How is the fast evolution of new tools really changing the way we work?

Join SIGGRAPH Cape Town for an honest, grounded conversation with the people actually making the work — artists, animators, supervisors and developers — about what's genuinely changing in the craft, and what's just noise.
This isn't a business-of-VFX session, and it's not another tired "AI is coming for our jobs" debate. Expect a candid, peer-to-peer discussion followed by audience Q&A.

Our Panelists for the evening :-
Wicus Labuschagne · Moderator, SIGGRAPH Cape Town
Rob van den Bragt · Chocolate Tribe (VFX & Animation Supervisor /COO)
Marco Raposo de Barbosa · Continuum Pictures (VFX Supervisor / Producer)
Beverly Toweett · Netflix (SSA VFX Manager)
Bradley Stilwell · Lenscowboy (AI Tools and VFX Artist)
Emile van Straaten · Lucan Animation studios (Creative and Animation Director)
Tim Argall · Animation School (Animation Director)
Rory Mark · The Refinery (Head of VFX)
Please RSVP https://capetown.siggraph.org/events/craft-at-speed/

“Create without Limits” with Preymaker, Sunrise and Simulon

The visual effects and animation landscape is changing faster than ever, shaped by real-time tools, AI-assisted workflows, and increasingly global productions. This SIGGRAPH Cape Town session brings together industry professionals working at the forefront of these shifts, sharing practical insights from real projects and pipelines.

Across three talks, we will explore how hybrid workflows are redefining the role of the artist, how large-scale productions are managed across continents and massive datasets, and how real-time animation is bridging the gap between creative direction and technical ex*****on. From emerging platforms and pipeline design to award-winning animation work, the evening offers a grounded look at where our industry is heading and how artists and studios can adapt.
