Years ago, I read an article about a woman who takes her son's murderer under her wing. That article has stuck with me all these years. I'm not sure if Sally Cranswick read the same article, but that is exactly the premise of this novel. Like that article, this book is bound to stick in your mind long after you've turned the last page!

The idea for the cover is based on a poignant moment in the book where the protagonist knits a blanket in the colours of the chakras for the man who is serving time in jail for killing her son.

I love the juxtaposition of the monotone, depressing jail cell and the brightly knitted letters.

This was so fun to work on. Great book, lovely people, and at the end happy clients!

I love doing these portraits and including all the places, people, pets and things that are special to my clients. A little life story in one image.

I draw in Procreate and then have it printed on archival paper with archival inks. It's beautiful fine art printing.

Mine is a toss-up between being mansplained how easy it is to work in advertising as a woman—I used to, and still occasionally do work in advertising, oh and I’m a woman and the time my ex and his bestie (not creatives) mansplained colour to me—an award-winning illustrator, designer, art director and illustration teacher with over 20 years of experience, who is known for my use of colour, in my art and style.
