The MICT SETA National Skills Competition is coming to Free State, implemented by the Cortex Hub at the Central University of Technology (CUT), Bloemfontein, from 29–30 October 2026.
Under the theme “Innovating the Heartland: Smart Solutions for Free State Agriculture, Mining and Communities,” young innovators will be challenged to explore technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges across agriculture, mining and community development.
Students from universities and TVET colleges in the Free State Province, as well as participants and graduates of MICT SETA-supported skills development or internship programmes in the province, are encouraged to register.
* 26–28 October: AI (MCP), IoT (Blynk) and Fintech Bootcamps
* 27 October: Registration and selection of participating teams
* 29–30 October: National Skills Competition - Hackathon

MICT SETA is investing in the next generation of innovators to ensure that young people are not merely participants in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), but active creators of the technologies shaping it.
