From tiny steps to powerful traditions. 🪶✨ Watch as these young Jingle Dress dancers bring healing energy, prayer, and rhythmic grace to the sacred circle.

The Jingle Dress dance (ziibaaska'iganan) is deeply rooted in healing and adorned with metal cones that echo with every footstep.

Seeing the next generation carry on this sacred dance shows the living strength of these cultural traditions. It was a powerful experience to witness in person and I am grateful. 🙏🏼☀️🍂🥁❤️

This is the Men’s Traditional Scout Dance, performed in Native Cowboy regalia. The unique blend of western attire with bows, arrows, and traditional regalia honors the rich history of Indigenous cowboys, ranchers, and military scouts.

Fun witnessing culture being carried forward in the sweetest way...🪶✨

At just 2 years old, this little one is already stepping into the arena with so much pride. I loved the contrast of her traditional green Jingle Dress with high-top Converse sneakers and fur-wrapped pigtails. Talk about a beautiful blend of heritage and childhood joy!

After sharing earlier drum circle Powwow moments on social media, I received a message from her father who is featured in some of the videos, thanking me for documenting these gatherings. Connecting with him was such a gift. This whole project has turned into a massive blessing, and seeing the next generation carry their culture forward is why this living archive exists.

Seeing these young boys take the arena in their vibrant regalia for the Grass Dance was powerful to witness. Their dance is living proof of resilience, heritage, and hope.

These youth dancers highlight generational continuity. What you are seeing is evidence of the sacred rhythm and heritage being passed down intact to the next generation.

The Grass Dance is one of the oldest and most sacred dances. Notice how his brightly colored regalia features flowing yarn and fringe that sways fluidly with every step, mimicking prairie grass bending in the wind. The movements are smooth, low to the ground, and require incredible balance and rhythm.

Today, September 30th, is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We honor the survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never came home, and recognize that every child matters.

Cheers to the next generation keeping the rhythm and culture alive... 🪶
