Plant Description :
Balanophora Latisepala is a parasitic plant that lives on other plants and competes for nutrients from their roots. It resembles the jackfruit flower but has a lighter color and is smaller, about 6-8 cm in height. The stem is a rough, underground mass, about 2-3 cm in size. The leaves are small, opposite, and arranged in 3-6 pairs. The flowers are in clusters and light yellow in color, with male and female flowers on separate plants. The mature flower clusters send a stalk above the soil, either grouped or in clusters, often with more than 10 flowers. The male flower cluster is long or oval-shaped, 2-6 cm wide and 3-10 cm long, with flower stalks 7-10 mm long. The bracts of the flowers are wedge-shaped or nearly square, about 5 mm long. The flowers are numerous, with 4-5 small cream-colored petals. The male stamens are 4-5, fused into a narrow, flat cluster, 2.5-5.0 mm long. The anther lobes are horseshoe-shaped. The female flower cluster is oval or inverted egg-shaped, brown to reddish-brown in color, 1-4 cm wide and 1-6 cm long, with many tiny, densely packed flowers. It is found scattered in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Borneo. In Cambodia, it can be found in all regions of the country, typically in humid forests at elevations of 200-1,500 meters above sea level. It blooms from September to February.
