10/6/26 - A pattern change is on tap for Washington state as the upper-level ridge begins to break down by the end of the week. This will allow an upper-level trough to settle in. Troughs = low pressure = cooler/wetter conditions. This is forecast to be a lower-end system for this time of the year. The associated cold front is not expected to be strong for Autumn standards. With leaves beginning to fall off trees, I'm not overly concerned about widespread power outages with gusts expected to top out in the 30 MPH range. We'll see if this changes in the coming days though!

10/6/26 - There’s no Dense Fog Advisory this morning, so this is my advisory that there is dense fog around much of the Sound today. While driving in the Tacoma area this morning, I noticed a lot of people driving with high beams or no beams. Please use your low beams when you’re on the road!

10/5/26 - Did anyone in the Ashford area feel a small little shake at 7:02 PM? A super-shallow magnitude 2.6 earthquake occurred southwest of the town. The depth was estimated to be 4.6 miles. It’s unlikely that anyone outside of Ashford felt this, but if you did (Elbe/Mineral area), give me a buzz!

10/4/26 - Can anyone see a faint aurora looking north? I heard reports that people closer to the border could see some color in the sky through their phone cameras. This is the view from North End Tacoma. Sheer nothingness. Let me know if you see the aurora tonight!

10/4/26 - A couple of earthquakes occurred near the Blanco Fracture Zone today, but I’m here to once again clear the air. A magnitude 3.2 was recorded at 11:56 AM PDT, and a magnitude 4.2 at 3:13 PM PDT. The depth of each quake is currently unknown. These are 100% common in this part of the world. Quakes along strike-slip faults like this one are not capable of producing tsunamis. In addition, there is no threat of an Axial Seamount volcanic eruption. Just your normal seismic activity folks.👌🏻

10/4/26 - This morning's fog bank extends all the way from Longview, Washington to the north end of Vancouver Island! Along the coast, the low cloud deck extends all along the Vancouver Island coast to Monterey Bay, California! The ridge sure is ridging today.
