It’s funny: When I started training for my first half marathon last year, I finally understood why we use the word "running" for businesses.

Both can be so exciting.

Especially when you can feel yourself levelling up.

But both are also SO much about showing up when you don't feel like it.

Especially through those long stretches where you're wondering if you're making progress.

That’s when things can feel repetitive and exhausting.

You wonder why you’re doing this.

Meanwhile, people watching you are wondering, "How does she keep going?"

When you're just seeing “Tuesday” they’re admiring the discipline, the showing up, the not-quitting.

If you needed permission to keep going today, here it is.

If this reminded you of an entrepreneur friend who needs to hear it:
(Or a runner too!)

What are you trying to tell me? 👀

When I design websites, I don't think "How can I make this look pretty?"
I think: "How can we make this offer as compelling as possible?"

Here's the before/after on a recent client project.
- Same business
- Same layout
- Same copy

But our version conveys the value of the offer sooooo much better.

Here's what we changed:

1/ Put her face in the hero section

A microphone on a white background says little about who you're hiring.
But seeing the person behind the voice build trust.

2/ Created three CTAs at different commitment levels.

"Start your project" is great if someone's ready.
But "Request a Complimentary Audition" gives people who are still deciding a reason to reach out too.

3/ Replaced generic imagery for relevant images and copy.

The cassette tape graphic was a missed opportunity to convey the caliber of her clients.
We put names to her flagship projects - so much extra social proof!

When potential clients discover you online, your website is often the first impression they'll have.

Much better if it's a strong one.

It's embarrassing how much I laughed when I read this sign 😅
But beyond the dad joke, it's actually great copy.

The joke makes you smile, which puts you in a good mood while you're shopping.

But on top of that, the copy underneath, "because you deserve only the best beef," tells you they know what their customers actually care about when shopping for meat.

Where it comes from, the quality, maybe whether it's organic.

They're answering a question that's top of mind for the people who shop here.

So now they’ve made you laugh AND kept the message clear by showing that they know what you care about.

I see a lot of people try this kind of humor in their copy.

And most of the time, it just ends up confusing people for the sake of a joke.

I'll always advocate for clear copy over something clever.

But in this case, they managed to do both super effectively.

So if you want to use plays on words like this in your website copy, always make sure that:

a) the message is still coming through loud and clear

b) the humor actually makes sense as a strategy for connecting to the people you want to reach

Now give me your best meat-related puns, I'll pass them on to Hy-Vee ;)

I was a stay-at-home mom when I started my web design business in 2018.
Initially, I wanted to become a coach.

But while I was prepping for my training at The Life Coach School, I noticed a problem I could help with.

Most coaches I met either
- didn't have a website at all
- had a site, but it didn’t do them justice

I saw right away how that was a problem that needed a solution.

And I decided I’d be the one to solve it.

I had no idea how many “can’t believe I did that” moments that one decision would open up.

Since then, I've:
- Been featured in Forbes
- Flown around the country to conferences and summits
- Worked with 150+ coaches who genuinely change people's lives
- Met dozens of wonderful business owners at events like StoryBrand
- Built websites for industries I never expected (like law, energy, roofing, and telehealth)

Of course, some days are rougher than others, and some seasons are slow.

But I’m still so grateful to the 20-something me who opened the door to all this.

What's your #1 "can't believe I did that" moment?

I've built big coaching websites that ran into multi 5 figures.
But I've also built sites that cost a LOT less.

Both kinds of projects can be the right call.
It depends on what the business needs.

A big custom build can run into 5 figures because there's real work behind it:
- 10+ pages
- Copywriting
- Integrations
- Custom design
- Messaging work

For some coaches that's the right choice.

Especially if they're growing fast and running multiple offers, or if SEO is important for them.

The site has to do a lot of heavy lifting.

But plenty of coaches don't need all that.

If you have one clear offer, a clean homepage, and a simple inquiry flow, a smaller site can do beautifully for you.

As long as it still:
- tells visitors who you help and how
- gives them a reason to trust you
- makes it easy to inquire
- looks great

When a coach books a consult with me, the first thing I do is figure out which kind of site they need.

Sometimes that's the full custom build.
Sometimes something much smaller and a lot more affordable.

But the goal is always the same. A site that:
- looks great
- sounds like the coach
- gets ideal clients booking calls

Grief counseling is a $3.6B global market that grew 10% in 2025.

That's a LOT of people going through loss and looking for support.

I get that it might be uncomfortable to think about building a business around people's pain.

But here's how I see it:

People are already hurting.
And they're already searching for help.
The question is whether you'll be there when they need you.

That's not profiting from suffering. That's making sure help is available.

Life transitions coaches guide people through the hardest moments:
- Divorce
- Death of a loved one
- A sudden (perhaps forced) career change

A great example is Krista St-Germain.

She coaches widowed moms with evidence-based grief support that helps them move from surviving day-to-day to actually thriving and finding joy again.

Krista built a business around a painful niche.

And because of that, hundreds of women have someone to turn to when they need it most.

What would it look like for you to commit to the people you know how to help?

I get why people try to build their own website with Canva or Claude Code first.

It's cheap, fast, requires little design knowledge.

The thing is, designing a website is about MUCH more than just design.

When you invest in a coaching website with a designer, what you also get is:

1/ A messaging strategy that understands context and nuance

2/ Copy that's rooted in real perspective and experiences

3/ Layouts that make your message easy to digest

4/ Brand visuals that match the psychology behind why people buy

5/ A site you don't have to keep fixing every month

For most coaches, that investment ends up making WAY more sense than trying to save money on the front end.

Yes, the DIY site costs less to build.

But it might cost a LOT more in potential clients you never end up hearing from.

I almost never use pure black on a website.

Interestingly, when a client shows me design inspiration they DON'T like, it's usually because the background is true black ( #000000).

That level of darkness is really heavy and weighty.

Similar story to why we almost never use brown. Color psychology-wise, brown is the least favorite color of all genders!

So instead of pure black, I'll usually use some kind of off-black instead.

Might seem subtle, but it really helps make the site easier on the eye.

Which makes it more likely visitors will hang around for longer :)

What color would you never use?

After building 150+ coaching websites, I've found coaches fall into one of three camps depending on their needs.

- Some coaches just need a professional site up fast
- Some need strategic clarity before they invest in design
- Some are ready for the full done-for-you experience

That's why I created three options for coaches to work with me.

All three are built on the same StoryBrand messaging framework I use with every client.

Because the pattern is clear: the coaches who get the best results from their website are the ones who get their messaging right first.

If you're looking to get your coaching site built, here's a quick guide to your options:

1/ Website Kit for Coaches

You're building your first site (or rebuilding one that feels "off") and you want to do it yourself with proven templates and guidance.

You can have it live in a weekend.

2/ Success Planning

You're not ready for a full website yet, but you want to get crystal clear on your ideal client, your offer, and your messaging.

Three one-to-one workshops with me.
You walk away with a BrandScript, mood boards, and a full sitemap.

3/ Custom Website Design

You're an established coach ready for a fully custom site built by me and my team.

Messaging, design, development, and copy.

You're in the loop at every step, so we make sure you get the ideal website for you.

→ Swipe through to see what's included in each one.
