Today, we attended the first in-person Terry Fox Run organizers' workshop since 2019, along with 200 other motivated volunteers. We left Toronto with our hearts full and spirits lifted.

It was wonderful to hug comrades and speak to them face to face after four years of chatting with talking heads via our computer screen.

Thank you to Fred Fox for the kind message on our RO plaque, which celebrates each of the 10 years when we led the Wilmot run. We're so proud to be committee members under the brilliant leadership of Derek and Tammy Hergott in Waterloo now, so that we can continue to serve Terry's legacy.

Thanks to everyone at the Foundation and all of the presenters for today's inspirational event. We can't wait to put the great ideas from today into practice.

“All of a sudden, women had role models in their radios.” Powerful voices drive change in BEEHIVE - The ’60s Musical

President John F. Kennedy was elected in 1960, just 40 years after women in the U.S. were granted the right to vote. Despite changes in federal laws, individual states continued to use contrived rules, such as literacy tests, to prevent Black people from participating in elections, until civil rights activists like Martin Luther King – and the less well-known Fannie Lou Hamer and Diane Nash, who certainly deserve greater recognition for their work – successfully campaigned for the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
