How a failed field trip turned into the most amazing yet📣📣📣
On the 14th of June, we set out for an adventure to DME Systems and her sister companies: Zebra Comics Plc/Sa and Potolo Services
What we had anticipated and termed an "epic field trip", was indeed epic- just not how we expected it.
Our bus had a breakdown that day and we were left to reschedule the trip for the 18th of June for what we humorously termed "Phase 2".
The day arrives, and everyone was excited for what matters- making the most out of this opportunity.
We arrived at DME Systems and with their warm welcome, they kicked off with a thorough exposition of their background story and influence in fintech and sportsbook, their goals and technologies.
We were further granted the privilege to engage practical discussions with the incredible engineers in different units: UX Design, Fullstack Development, DevOps and Quality Assurance. They left us enlightened and inspired by the amazing work they do, their wealth of experiences and the highly acclaimed products they deliver.
At Zebra Comics , we interacted with the brains behind the largest digital comic book publishers in Africa. We were amazed by their creative expertise and interesting goal of incorporating AI in very particular areas of their work process.
With POTOLO, we saw how well they maximize tech in logistics- solving real problems in customer delivery services.
At UBCOMSA , it is a major priority for us to ensure that together we forge ways to expose ourselves to the world of tech outside the classroom, where things actually work. We deeply appreciate the CEO at DME Systems Mr René MANCHO for granting us this much revered opportunity a 3rd time in 3 years.
Finally, we are grateful for the tireless input of our dear President Diyoh Shiloh and the immense effort of the EXCO team at UBCOMSA in making the "epic field trip" a reality.
It was epic indeed.
