Continuing the shop clearout! Up for grabs is an assortment of 44 (yes forty four!) 6BQ5 / EL84 valves. Vast majority are new but possible a few good used valves in the mix. Sale if for the entire lot only as I don’t have the time or inclination to separate them out into individual lots. All have been tested on my TV-7B/U at some point in time but I don’t have written results for the and I don’t feel like testing them all again. I’m sure there are some matched sets in there but again, no time to test them all again. All valves are sold as-is although if there are any issues let me know and we’ll work out a solution.

Russian 6P14P types which are equivalent to the 6BQ5/EL84.
6P14P Qty = 17 All are NEW
6P14B-K Qty= 2 All are NEW
6P14P-EB Qty= 7 All are NEW
JJ EL84 Qty = 4 May be slightly used?
Shuguang EL84 Qty = 2 All are NEW
Miniwatt EL84 Qty =1 New
USA GE 6BQ5/EL84 Qty = 6 All are NEW
USA Tung-SOL 6BQ5/EL84 Qty = 1 NEW
USA Sylvalia 6BQ5/EL84 Qty = 1 NEW
Realistic 6BQ5/EL84 Qty = 1 NEW
RCA 6BQ5/EL84 Qty = 2 NEW

This is a fantastic lot of EL84s and would be great spares for a repair tech or anyone who digs the EL84 tone in their amps.

Again, the sale is for the entire lot, I won’t be separating them. Priced at $300 or best offer over that. That’s less than $7.00 per valve so it’s a pretty good deal. I’ll even include the hand-made wooden tray! Postage is at cost to your address or can be collected in Mascot, Sydney.

NOTE: Please ensure that valves are operated within their limits! Lots of amps these days run excessively high voltages which are not suitable for some vintage valves. Use them within their limits and they’ll have a happy life. Just don’t look to me if fry them with excess voltage and think it’s the fault of the valves!

Any questions feel free to ask.

Stay tuned for more items as I continue to clear out the workshop.

OK gents and ladies, now that the lockdown era looks to be over it’s time to move on my inventory of guitar speaker cabinets. All cabinets were made to my specifications by Aaron Kennedy at Rock Solid Cabinets several years ago. These were my stock speaker cabinets for most all of my amps. Due to the eminent closing of Ledford Amplification all must go! Please click on the link for a full set of pictures of the cabinets. https://photos.app.goo.gl/mJ7M5PkHdCHZVvmm7

Specs:

I have two types of closed back 2x12” cabinets and one type of 2x12” combo cabinet available. Cabinets are in structurally complete ‘raw’ condition ready for covering with (Tolex, grillcloth) and assembly with your components. These cabs will make a great DIY project!

The two 2x12” closed back cabs are identical with the exception that one has a vertical front and baffle (consider it a straight front cab) and the other has a half angled front with the baffle tipped back 6.5 degrees (consider it an angled front, similar to a mini-quad).

Measurements are: H=63cm W=63cm D=35cm

Cab is designed for rear mount speakers. Front baffle is fixed and is not removable with a diagonal speaker arrangement. T-Nuts are pre-mounted in the baffle and bolts/washers for mounting speakers are included. Bottom has four holes pre-drilled for the Fender style removable casters

Cabs include front grill cloth mounting frame and rear panel with all mounting hardware included.

These cabs also require a front-to-rear horizontal brace to prevent any resonant peaks at high power levels. This brace is included (not shown in pics).

Side handles for these cabs are available through Penn/Elcom (Handle H1071).

The 2x12” combo cab is open backed and is roughly between and AC30 and a Bluesbreaker in size.

Measurements are: H=51cm W= 70cm D=35cm with horizontal speaker arrangement.

Cab is designed for rear speaker mounting. Front baffle is removable. T-Nuts are pre-mounted in the baffle and bolts/washers for mounting speakers are included.

Front grill cloth frame is integrated as part of the front baffle. 2 x rear panels are included along with all mounting hardware for the baffle and rear panels.

The combo cab has a top cutout opening of 49.5cm x 8cm for an amplifier chassis of your choice along with a cooling vent cutout.

Top of the cabinet is reinforced and pre-drilled to suit a Marshall style handle although most any style handle can be utilized.

I have some Tolex and grillcloth on hand I can supply on request as long as supply lasts as well as handles, corners, speaker jack plates, casters, etc. It all needs to go so just let me know what you need with your cabinet!

Closed back cabinet kits are $200 each. Combo cabinet kits are $160 each. I'm willing to deal so feel free to make an offer, especially if you require more than one cabinet.

Local pickup only, no shipping on these unless you want to arrange your own.

I figure these won't last long at these prices so definitely first in best dressed!

Hey guys and gals. After some feedback if you don't mind. I have quite literally dozens of raw 2x12 guiitar speaker cabinets I am going to have to move on. Won't be putting anything up for sale until the lockdown is over so please don't ask. I have lots so I’m not seeing a shortage coming.

These cabs were designed and built for me by Aaron Kennedy at Rock Solid Cabinets and cases and are extremely well built but light weight cabinets. They are in several configurations both open backed and closed back as well as combo cabs. . These are not flat packs, but assembled cabs. Just need covering and then screw in the panels (holes are already there). Basically you would need a screwdriver to assemble.

I wanted to get some feedback on preferences to finish yourself or have someone else do for you. I'm thinking at a minimum the cab, and all wooden components (cab, baffle, front/rear panels, grill cloth frames, plus screws , etc, needed to put it together.

I want to have this sort of standardised as I don't want a bunch of 'custom' orders. I am however happy to furnish what hardware I have in stock on the shelf. What hardware would you want with them? Nickel Corners? Handles? Wheels? Jack Plates? Keep cost to a minimum with no hardware? As an example the pic shows a finished angled front closed back 2x12 (diagonal) cabinet. Also have these in a straight front. Raw cab like that would be the most expensive at around $175.

While I appreciate it, again, not for sale yet until lockdown is over so please don’t ask! Just trying to decide the best way to do this. Maybe a BIG yard sale with 50 speakers cabinets in the front yard?
Thoughts?

As most are aware due to serious health reasons the eminent closure of Ledford Amplification is not far away. I have decided that with parts available on hand I will be building six of my Number 9 amplifiers. These will be the last Number 9’s I will be building and will be built to my absolute highest standards.

I dropped off the chassis to be powder coated today and I should have them back next week to begin assembly. I am looking to have all of the amplifiers completed within 30 days of getting the chassis back.

Unfortunately I will not be available for on-going support. Brother amp builder extraordinaire Pete Reynolds at Reynolds Valveart has graciously agreed to provide on-going service and support for these amplifiers. For those in other areas schematics, specs, etc., will also be provided which will enable any competent tech to service the amplifier.

If anyone has any questions or would like to express an interest in reserving one of these last six amplifiers please feel free to contact me. First in best dressed.

A new ‘British Classic’ under construction! The shelf was bare and I needed a new demo model of this amp so figured was a good time for an update to this model. This is basically my take on the classic vintage Marshall vibe (pre JCM800) with a few ‘tweaks’ here and there which includes a very good master volume of my own design. These are a relatively uncomplicated amp with the focus on superb build quality and tone, tone, tone!

New toriodal transformers (both power and output) take up a large footprint on the top of the chassis which required a brand new layout design. The new transformer setup makes the amp capable of anywhere from 50 to 80 watts depending on the output valves used. 6L6GC, EL34, KT66, KT88 and 6550 are optional valves available. No mods to the amp required, just a bias adjustment to set the new valves.

Pics here are the board and front panel in a custom jig for ease of construction. When most wiring is completed this will be transplanted directly into the chassis. Should have her up and running within the next few days!

Note: NOS Philips 'Mustard' coupling and tone caps will be used for these amps until my limited supply is depleted.

More to follow! Cheers, Duane @ Ledford Amps!

Test Pilots Needed in Sydney!
Experienced player opinions needed on the newest incarnation of the Number 9 circuit incorporating a few pre-amp and power-amp modifications. Offer is only open to people I have dealt with previously and know. Looking for open/honest input so take it a few days, see what you think. Current Number 9 owners also welcome with option to upgrade to current spec if desired. Sorry, I'm sure everyone can understand that I can't hand an amp over to strangers. Message or phone call please.
