Good evening,

Hearing how catastrophic Hurricane Harvey was going to be, we secured our belongings, said goodbye to our homes, and left the places we loved and the people we love and hoped for the best. Now that the storm has blown over, our nightmare doesn't seem to be over yet. In our neighborhood, our friends and neighbors are struggling selflessly to make sure that our neighborhood is safe and secure and dry for us to return home to. Being someone who loves to do everything I can to help out, it is making me anxious that I can't do anything to get out there and get my hands dirty along side all of you (you all know who you are). To my neighbors in Columbia Lakes - If, when this is all behind us, you return home and find that you need help reinstalling any of your technology (computers, televisions, security cameras, home entertainment systems, etc.) just give me a call and I will be more than happy to help free of charge. Thank you to all of the people who stepped up to help save our neighborhood, it certainly does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Just completed this Ubiquiti PowerBeam M5 spoke-hub network to carry the security camera network signal. These have a large throughput and have a range of over 20 miles. For a price tag of about $100 each, these satellites are a bargain investment in your mesh or spoke-hub network.

It's finally here - the holiday season. The week of turkey, football, and cut-throat shopping. For those who participate (and furthermore, those who don't), don't hesitate to reach out to a professional if you need any advice on the latest technology or need assistance in setting it up. Nothing brings people down like getting a brand new PC or entertainment system and not being able to get it working asap ;)

If you want to work in IT you have to be prepared to crawl around in attics in the summertime and spend all day outside on a ladder in a wind storm during the wintertime. On really beautiful days in the spring and fall, you'll be stuck in the office the entire time. It's the nature of the beast. 😜

This week and next week I'll be losing quite a bit of weight as we will be running cables through multiple attics for a wifi extension and a security camera install. Several times a day I catch myself wondering why I didn't schedule this later in the fall season rather than days when the heat index is well over 100 degrees. Drink lots of water and try to stay cool out there! 😅

It's a good thing when you hear your IT consultant speak about your IT infrastructure as if we're his own. Taking ownership of a project is good and we IT guys love to do it but when you start to feel like you're being excluded from that ownership then you, as a client, need to have a serious discussion with your IT services provider.

We should have unprecedented access to any services that we need to manage your network but so should you. The network should be set up in a way that it's as easy to lock out your IT guy as it is for him to lock out a terminated employee. If none of this has ever been discussed between you and your IT services contractor then it's never too early to have this discussion. Don't wait until it's too late.

Correction: the vehicle that damaged the back gate was a late model silver in color GMC Yukon. We have a clear copy of the license plate and are forwarding all information over to the authorities. Thanks everyone for being so vigilant and hopefully this will discourage anyone from doing something so foolish again.
