2D drawings or 3D models, or both?
Let’s talk about design evolution. The once-reigning 2D drawings have some fresh competition: sleek, realistic 3D models. The shift is undeniable. 3D gives us a peek into the future, showing us how things will actually look and feel. It's like moving from black-and-white sketches to vibrant, lifelike renderings.
But hey, not so fast! Before we all jump on the 3D train, let’s chat about the flip side. Crafting a 3D model? That’s a commitment. We’re talking a week versus a couple of days for a 2D drawing. And the level of detail? Off the charts! Plus, let’s not forget the tech hurdle. Anyone can open a 2D PDF; but 3D? You’ll need some special software for that.
We were just discussing this very issue with one of our clients.
Despite the hurdles, the benefits of 3D modeling are, well, pretty fantastic. The clarity, the perspective – it’s a whole new way of seeing and understanding design. No more getting lost in a maze of overlapping lines. But details, efforts, and the time!
Is it even possible to find the right balance between 2D and 3D?
Sure, if you use Sibe. Discuss 2D drawings with the client and present 3D model on last stages of the engineering part. Leverage the strengths of both while staying mindful of their limitations and get top-notch results for our projects.
