I don’t normally shoot weddings. Actually, my wife’s #1 rule for me is pretty clear:

We do not do weddings. 😂

So technically… this was a wedding reception. Close enough to bend the rules for a good favor and an even better family.

It was hot. It was sunny. The light was absolutely not doing me any favors.

But we made it work - and I’d call it a success.

Still not adding “wedding photographer” to the résumé though.

GAME 1. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS ARE BACK.

There probably wasn’t a better way to officially break in the new turf at Lyle Couch Stadium.

Mulvane opened the 2026 season at home against the Chanute Comets in the first official football game played on the Wildcats’ new turf - and Mulvane never gave up the lead.

It was a fight most of the night.

3-0 after one.
3-0 at halftime.
10-6 after three.

Chanute stayed within striking distance, but the Wildcats finally created some separation in the fourth and finished off opening night with a 24-12 WIN.

And man, it felt good to be back on the sideline.

Big hits. Quiet moments between plays. Players completely locked in. Coaches watching every detail. All the little pieces of a Friday night that happen outside of wherever the football happens to be.

FOOTBALL SEASON IS OFFICIALLY HERE.

It worked out pretty perfectly that the one middle school game I’ll probably be able to make it to this year was Mulvane vs. Winfield - which means for once, literally every good picture I take is useful.

You would not believe the number of great photos I’ve taken over the years of athletes from other teams… admired them for about three seconds… and then deleted them because I have absolutely no use for them. lol

But tonight officially marks the beginning of my 2026 football season grind, and I am READY for it.

This fall I’ll be spending most of my Friday nights with Mulvane, both home and away. There are a couple of away games that I’ve already looked at and said, “yeahhhh, I’m not driving that far” 😂 - and somehow Winfield conveniently plays at home right down the street on those exact nights. Throw in several Southwestern College home games too, and my camera is going to see A LOT of football over the next couple months.

Football is easily one of my favorite things to shoot, and there’s just something about this time of year - the lights, the sidelines, the emotion, the big plays, and trying to capture that one frame that tells the whole story.

Here we go.

Got to do something pretty cool tonight.

Parents from the Mulvane Junior Football League reached out and asked me to photograph their 6th grade boys and create their player banners this season - and I’m really excited to be a small part of it.

Huge shoutout to Andrea Walker for leading that charge and trusting me with these!

And because every one of these families is trusting me to capture a little piece of a season these boys are going to remember for a long time, I wanted to do something extra. Every player will also receive a digital 8x10 portrait like this one, completely free, as a thank you.

Banners are awesome, but years from now, when the shoulder pads don’t fit anymore and these boys have moved on to whatever comes next, I hope these pictures are something they can look back on and remember exactly who they were in this moment.

That’s the part of photography I’ll never get tired of.

Sometimes one small production change completely transforms a show.

Heartland Championship Wrestling added pyro this weekend, and from behind the camera... what a difference.

Every entrance that was able to use it, instantly felt bigger.

The sparks created incredible light, dramatic silhouettes, and moments that simply didn't exist before. A hero feels larger than life. A monster feels even more intimidating. Every click of the shutter has a chance to capture something unforgettable.

Professional wrestling has always been about presentation.

The lights.
The music.
The atmosphere.
The anticipation.

Pyro is another piece of that puzzle, and it elevates everyone who walks through the curtain.

Huge credit to HCW for continuing to invest in the experience - not just for the fans in attendance, but for the wrestlers who deserve to feel like stars and for the images that tell their stories long after the bell rings.

I already can't wait for the next show.

There was a time when Logan Knight believed every problem could be solved in the middle of the ring.

Fight harder.

Get back up.

Shake hands.

Move on.

Then Drake Gallows happened.

For months, Gallows made Logan's life a living hell. Cheap shots. Mind games. Embarrassment. Every time Logan found his footing, Gallows pulled the rug out from underneath him. Every ounce of respect Logan had spent years earning was chipped away one piece at a time.

The fans watched.

Some cheered.

Some laughed.

Some simply expected Logan to endure it, because that's what heroes do.

Heroes forgive.

Heroes show restraint.

Heroes always take the high road.

Eventually...

Heroes break.

Now every time the bell rings, Logan isn't looking across the ring at an opponent.

He sees Drake Gallows.

It doesn't matter who stands across from him anymore. Veteran. Rookie. Fan favorite. Doesn't matter.

They're all wearing Gallows' face.

Every forearm lands a little harder.

Every submission lasts a little longer.

Every victory feels less like celebration and more like revenge.

The man who once fought to inspire people now fights to make sure nobody enjoys stepping into a ring with him.

Drake Gallows wanted to destroy Logan Knight.

Instead...

He taught him that pain is contagious.

And now everyone else has to suffer the consequences.

Because the most dangerous man in wrestling isn't the one who enjoys hurting people.

It's the one who never wanted to...

Until someone gave him a reason.
