You haven’t had chai tea until you’ve tried it in India. Boiled milk, fresh ginger, black tea, spices, and sugar. The spices will vary. In this one ground cloves were added.

Could it be a more beautiful day? Four miles of paddling along the Colorado River left me with seriously sore shoulders, but it was worth it. I’m told this stretch of the river gets crazy busy in the summer, but we had it to ourselves today. If you’re interested in this experience, I highly recommend booking the half day guided tour with Blazin’ Paddles in Boulder City.

Did you know Spokane, Washington, is home to the largest urban waterfalls in the United States? And you can go rafting through the city? I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Spokane, so I was constantly surprised and delighted by this city. The city has great food, it’s very walkable, close to nature, and quite affordable. And compared to many parts of the country right now, the weather is quite nice, warm but not too hot. Stay tuned for a blog post with all the details.

My stay in Kenya ended with a short safari in Samburu National Reserve. A highlight was seeing a large herd of elephants with babies as young as three weeks old. We stayed one night at Simba Lodge which was lovely! I loved Kenya and will definitely be back.

I can’t imagine a better way to spend the day than watching baby elephants play and feeding giraffes.

We began the day at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust where orphaned baby elephants are cared for and then reintroduced to the wild. Next up was Giraffe Centre, a place dedicated to breeding endangered Rothschild Giraffes and then releasing them into the wild. Two amazing organizations. If you’re ever in Nairobi be sure to visit both.
