A productive day of U.S.–Libya engagement in Washington, D.C. on the sidelines of the World Bank/IMF Fall Meetings.

USLBA began the morning of October 16, by hosting Central Bank of Libya Governor H.E. Naji Mohamed Issa and his delegation at USLBA headquarters for a discussion on Libya’s economic outlook, reform agenda, and opportunities for partnership with U.S. businesses.

Later in the day, the U.S.-Libya Business Association joined the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center in co-hosting Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas, H.E. Dr. Khalifa Abdulsadek, and Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghouj. The conversation focused on increasing production, attracting investment, and improving the efficiency and public trust of Libya’s healthcare sector.

Together, these meetings reflected Libya’s whole-of-government approach to driving economic recovery and deepening engagement with U.S. partners.

This week, USLBA had the privilege of hosting Mr. Abdulla Muhammad Gadir Boh, Chairman of Libya's Administrative Control Authority (ACA), during the inaugural proceedings in Washington, D.C. Mr. Gadir Boh was accompanied Mr. Ibrahim Ali, Director of the Anti-Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Follow-up Office & Advisor to the Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Throughout the visit, Mr. Gadir Boh engaged with U.S. companies, think tanks, and experts in Anti-Money Laundering / Countering Financing Of Terrorism (AML/CFT) best practices. He shared ACA's major progress, including a comprehensive report exposing instances of corruption in Libya since 2003. This milestone has paved the way for a visionary five-year plan focused on increasing transparency, fostering investment, and driving economic development in Libya.

Our conversations emphasized the importance of bringing American companies back to Libya to establish long-term partnerships. These collaborations will not only support Libya's growth but also enhance stability and prosperity for both nations. 🇺🇸🤝🇱🇾

We've just wrapped up an incredible evening at the US-Libya Business Association Holiday Reception, celebrating the economic partnership between the US and Libya. A special thanks to our keynote speakers, State Department Deputy Director of the Office of North African Affairs, Jeff Hulse, and Libya's Chargé d'affaires, Fadil Sanusi Omar, for their exceptional insights on North African Affairs.
