The “Notebook First” Rule for AI 📓✨
When my daughter wanted to build an app, we didn’t start with a prompt. We started with a pencil.
I had her draw the screens and map the “why” before touching any tech. Why? Because I want her to be the visionary, not just the button-pusher.
When the AI finally spit out a result, she could actually critique it because she had a plan. 💡
Do you jump straight to the tech, or do you start low-tech first?

On AI Literacy Day, I had the chance to speak with Farida, a global cybersecurity expert on Parenting in the AI era.
While AI can give us quick (and average) answers, I emphasize the need to focus and loving the process of learning.
Part of that effort is letting them fail. Help them understand that the struggle is part of learning. Then help them enjoy it. ☺️

With the push for AI companions and chatbots in social media and AI platforms claiming to be safe for kids, we are starting to see a push to block AI entirely.

As a parent, I think we need to also answer a different and more fundamental question.

How Can We Help Our Kids Build Real Friendships in the Age of Al Companions?

I believe it is doable and anchors on building a support system they can rely on.

A social capital that’s build through family, neighbors, teachers, friends, and community of interests.

OpenAI introduces parental control for ChatGPT. Starting today, Monday, September 29, parents can link their teens account, adjust setting, receive notifications for acute distress, and set blackout hours.

A new White House initiative is asking K–12 students to build AI solutions for real-world community problems.

Yes — the Presidential AI Challenge is officially here. It’s meant to inspire innovation, digital wellness, school safety, and new learning models. But for many parents, this raises more questions than answers.

📌 They’re surprisingly optimistic about AI’s potential

📌 They master social media but don’t connect algorithms to artificial intelligence
📌 They’re learning from TikTok, not structured guidance
📌 The gap between their digital fluency and AI understanding is huge
