3 Ways to Fix Your Designs. Comment “FIX” to get my free guide “10 quick fixes for bad designs”.

1️⃣ Don’t cram everything in

Remember that scene in ratatouille where Linguini is throwing a whole bunch of ingredients into the soup and ruining it? Unless you’re going for a maximalist design style, it may be best to pare down what’s in your design. And remember, on social media we have the caption where we can offer additional context. So focus on only putting the most important items in your design.

2️⃣ Use proper alignment

Alignment is a great way to direct the reader’s eyes. It gives order to your designs so it doesn’t feel visually chaotic and is easy to read.

3️⃣ Consistent colors

This one is a bit more zoomed out. When looking at your overall brand and designs, are there common visual themes/colors/textures? Using those consistently help create a recognizable brand.

Part 34 🔥 Things You Can Do In Canva

When I’m traveling for workshops and trainings, I’m often making final tweaks to my presentations. Sometimes that means editing on a plane or in a spot with zero WiFi or terrible connection.

Canva’s offline mode has saved me from the pit of despair many times. You can edit what’s already in your design, add shapes and grids, upload images. Everything syncs back up once you’re online again. Supa clutch for staying productive when you’re on the go!

Part 32 🔥 Things You Can Do In Canva

Canva has a Countdown Timer app you can add to your designs! Search for it in the Apps Marketplace, plug in your event date and time, tweak the colors, and you’re set.

I’ve found the best use case for this is if you’re sharing a presentation or design using a public view link, or adding it to to Canva Website. These are great for building anticipation around launches, webinars, or events.

You can now turn a flat image into an editable design.

Perfect for when you have old brand assets or campaign visuals you need to refresh but no longer have the original file. Just upload your PNG or JPG and Canva separates it into individual layers.
