Ever wonder how food is separated from recyclable packaging at materials recovery facilities?

We're pointing the spotlight to our customer, Marin Sanitary Service.

They've just taken another big step towards their zero waste goals with the acquisition of a new powerful food "depackaging" machine. The machine "separates large loads of prepackaged foods from their containers [and] will prevent thousands of tons of expired packaged food from grocery stores and food distributors from entering the landfill each year."

At the recent SWANA SoCal conference in Ontario, our team heard from industry leaders and organizations on how they're rising to meet the challenges of edible food recovery with the backdrop of California's SB 1383.

Republic Services presented to the group on how their utilization of Recyclist software enables them to track and report their food recovery efforts— a requirement of SB 1383— explaining just one aspect of a hauler's use case of our Program Tracker. Well done on the presentation, Susanne Passantino!
