Rebuilding Black Wall Street is not an ordinary group. I'm sure a lot of us are used to groups where all you see is advertisements and no one is really talking or trying to work together to build anything. Everyone has their own agenda and they're waiting for your agenda to fail while they promote their agenda in hopes that it wont. RWBS is revolutionary. People want to join us when they hear what we're doing.

I recently went to the Cincinnati Urban League / ConnXus event this past Tuesday. Everyone I met was great and it was truly a pleasure to connect. I also had the pleasure of promoting our partners and the Rebuilding Black Wall Street group. Empower yourself with knowledge. Sure, you remember back in school when it was “cool” to NOT be the smart kid? You remember the nerds and the geeks. Some of them are now CEOs and executives in large corporations making lots of money. They’re doctors, lawyers, scientists. If you think it’s not cool to be smart then you’ve been misinformed about what “cool” is. Don’t let an idiot tell you that it’s cool to be like him. Why? He’s an idiot. The idiot dreams of having money while the smart people know how to get it.

If you want to change your condition you have to start the work of changing your view of yourself. Figure out who you are and who your parents were. Figure out who your grandparents were and who your ancestors were. Figure out where you came from and where you want to go. I’m not saying live in the past. I’m saying live in the past, the present, and the future and realize that they are all the same thing and that thing is what we determine it to be.

And then you don’t know what the ingredients even are in the “stuff” you own and use. And you don’t even know how much its killing you because they don’t care about your health; only their ability to sell you more “stuff”. It’s okay to buy some stuff but cut back where you can cut back. I’m not saying don’t buy anything. I think that’s stupid. But do you have to buy EVERYTHING? That’s a choice. And making the right choice could mean the difference between having debt or having wealth.

Stop paying people to do things you can do yourself”
Sure, you may not be able to fix your own car but sometimes we spend too much money to have things and to maintain the things we have because we don’t know how to make or maintain them. Black people are in a race to “have stuff” against people who aren’t in that race. Having “stuff” is not their end goal. Having power is. Having wealth comes from having power. Having “stuff” takes away wealth which takes away power. We buy too much stuff. Our consumer habits are used in order to put money, wealth, and power, into their hands.

But we need to stop making excuses for ourselves. School never taught us these things. Is that a good excuse? This information is largely available for free and is easily accessible to most people. If you don’t know how to do something, learn.

There’s only one reason why we don’t invest our money. We don’t know how to. Sure you can say that you don’t have enough money left over to invest. But could it be that you never learned how to save? There is a type of education called “Financial Education” and there’s a clear difference in the lifestyles of those who have it and those who don’t.
