Podcast: Protect Your Profits With These Voice Fraud Mitigation Best Practices
In this podcast from Telecom Reseller magazine, Chris Lee, CEO Cloud Age Solutions outlines the scope of the problem and reminds carriers that fraud losses come right out of the bottom line and represent revenue that cannot be replaced. From Lee’s perch, he observes that the carriers are often more revenue focused than security driven, perhaps overlooking the hard reality that lost money on fraud is the most expensive of all losses, since it comes right out of the profit bucket. And a single event can vaporize profits for weeks, or even months. Lee makes the case for vigilance and lays out a plan that consists of prevention and mitigation. Prevention of events before they happen. This can include reviewing processes and better controls. Mitigation means “reducing the attack surface”. Carriers need to watch unusually long calls and other occurrences that basically red flag a call. Lee outlines how Cloud Age helps carriers tighten things up to prevent an event, but can help even when a fraud event has occurred.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created such rapid and widespread hardship and disruption for so many people, it’s hard to imagine life returning to some level of normal.

We don’t have a crystal ball, but we think it’s safe to assume one of the biggest changes with implications for the telecom industry will be far greater use of remote working (aka work from home or telecommuting). In many areas of the country, and in many industries, businesses are not only allowing employees and contractors to work remotely – they’re requiring it for anyone who can.

As a result, in the next phase of remote working, the impacts won’t be “tactical”, but a transformation of enterprise IT and telecom operations. This transformation should not be taken lightly. If companies are not set up to operate remotely, they will be at a disadvantage.

Missing and Celebrating March Madness - Cloud Age Solutions

We know why you’re in an “epidemically” crabby mood these days. It’s not because toilet paper is in short supply. It’s not because you can’t turn on your computer without being reminded to wash your hands. It’s not because your teenage kids seem to enjoy social distancing from you.

No. It’s because they’ve canceled the NCAA college basketball tournament. The true magic of March Madness is that all the games, all the upsets, all the past tournaments live in our collective national memory, to be cherished and revisited, in a way that is different from any other sporting event.

While this is a nice walk down memory lane, there are two things we can take away from these moments.
1. Prepare, work hard, and be disciplined

Sprint T-Mobile Merger: What It Means for Enterprise, MSPs and Channel Partners - Cloud Age Solutions

In February, a United States District Court judge dismissed a challenge to the planned merger when he ruled against a lawsuit filed by state attorneys general. Although the ruling could be appealed, and the merger still has to receive approval by the California Public Utilities Commission, it’s possible that as soon as April 1, 2020, Sprint and T-Mobile will merge to create a new, bigger T-Mobile to compete with AT&T and Verizon.

Apart from the end of the Sprint brand (remember FON, Candice Bergen, and long-distance calls for a dime a minute?), what does this mean for enterprise customers, MSPs, and channel partners?
