Most business owners describe what they want their website to look like in words.

"I think I want a teal background. Maybe purple buttons? Or is that too much? My headline should probably be bigger. What font would look good?"

Then the developer builds it, the owner sees it, and something feels off. Round two of changes. Round three. By round four nobody is happy and everyone is tired of looking at it.

The problem is that color schemes and fonts are visual decisions. They cannot be made in your head. You have to see them.

So we built a quick, free browser tool that lets you see them. And make changes instantly.

Pick a background color. Pick fonts. Add a subtle pattern. Write your real headline. Set up two buttons. Everything updates live as you type. If teal does not work with that purple, you will know in two seconds. No round four needed.

When you find something you like, send it to us in one click for a free quote on building it into your site.

McCausland's Menswear has been outfitting the Tacoma area for over 45 years. If you've been inside the store, you know the feeling. Old English lettering on the exterior. Wood floors and polished brass. Suits from Corneliani, Jack Victor, Eton, and Gran Sasso on the racks. Larry, the master tailor, has been fitting customers there for more than four decades.

Then their previous website manager let them down. Their original website was gone. Their original domain was gone. A 45-year-old business was suddenly invisible online with no clear path back.
They needed something up fast. Not a placeholder. A real site that matched the level of the store itself.

We rebuilt it on a new domain at mccauslandsmenswear.com. Clean structure, fast load times, mobile-ready, and a tone that matches the experience of walking through the door. Customers searching for a tailor or a quality suit in the Tacoma area can find them again, and the site reflects who McCausland's actually is.

If your website situation feels like a ticking clock, or you've been burned by someone who was supposed to be handling it, I pick up the phone.

The way Spokane customers find local businesses is changing right now, and most owners haven't caught up yet.

I put together a breakdown of what AI search actually is, the terms behind it, how AI decides who to recommend, and what makes a website show up in those answers. It's written for business owners, not marketers.

One thing I keep coming back to: this is a moving target. The numbers shift every quarter. The platforms change their citation rules. What worked six months ago may not work today. That is exactly why staying visible in AI search is not a one-time project.

We just launched a new service page for Spokane landscaping companies.

If you run a lawn care, irrigation, hardscape, or tree service business in the Spokane area, your website probably isn't doing much for you.

Most landscaping sites lose jobs they should be winning. Slow load times. No clear way to contact you. No service area listed.

Buried in search while your competition books out their spring schedule.

Spring books fast in this industry. The phone starts ringing in March and by May it's too late to fix the website that isn't bringing in leads.

See how we build landscaping websites that actually get found and book jobs:

Happy Earth Day from Miles and the 20 Miles North team.

We spend our days building websites and helping Spokane businesses grow online, but today we wanted to take a minute to appreciate the place that makes all of it possible.

One tree. One forest. One planet worth looking after.

Whatever you're doing today, whether you're getting outside, planting something, picking up litter on a trail, or just stepping away from the screen for a few minutes, thanks for caring about the place we all share.

From our corner of Spokane to wherever you are 🌎

Your website has 3 seconds to answer four questions before a visitor leaves.

Who are you? What do you do? Why should I pick you over everyone else in Spokane? How do I contact you?

Most business websites fail at least two of them.

The phone number is buried in the footer. The headline is the business name instead of what the business actually does. The "why us" section says trusted, experienced, and family owned, which is exactly what the competitor's site says too. A visitor lands, gets confused or unconvinced, and hits the back button.

That back button click tells Google something too.

Walk through your own homepage right now. Can a stranger answer all four questions in 3 seconds without scrolling?

If you're not sure, that's worth finding out.

Most Spokane business owners assume ranking on Google means they're showing up everywhere online.

That stopped being true about two years ago.

People are now finding local businesses through ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews before they ever touch a search result. And those visitors convert at 14.2% compared to 2.8% from standard Google traffic.

That gap exists because people who find you through AI already trust the answer they got. They arrive ready to act.

Most local business websites aren't structured to show up in AI results at all. Different signals, different content requirements, different optimization entirely.

This is called AI search optimization, and it is one of the biggest opportunities Spokane businesses aren't talking about yet.

Your brand colors are saying something before you say a word.
Teal builds trust. Purple signals creativity. Blue says reliable. Cyan brings energy.

Most businesses pick colors because they look good. The ones that win pick colors because of what they mean to the customer they want to attract.

If your website feels off and you can not pinpoint why, your colors might be the first place to look.

We offer a free website audit for Spokane businesses. No cost, no obligation. Drop a comment or head to the link below to call and request yours.

Here is website I really enjoyed building.

LaDonna Rémy is a licensed clinical social worker and trauma therapist serving clients across Oregon and Washington. She needed a site that felt calm and approachable before anyone even reads a word.

I built the full site, color palette, and typography from scratch. The colors are drawn from the Pacific Northwest: deep forest greens, sage, warm sand, and a soft earthy white. The fonts are Marcellus for headings and Sora for body text. Grounded and readable without feeling sterile.

If you are a counselor or therapist looking for a website that actually reflects the care you bring to your work, I would love to connect.

Most dental websites have the same problem.

They look fine. But they're built like a digital brochure, not a patient-generating tool.

A dental website needs to do three things well:

1. Show up when someone searches "dentist near me" in Spokane
2. Load fast enough that they don't leave before the page finishes
3. Make it obvious what to do next, call, book, or request a new patient form

If yours isn't doing all three, you're losing patients to a competitor whose site is. Not because they're a better dentist. Because their site was built to convert.

We walk Spokane dental practices through exactly what that looks like. 20milesnorth.com/dental-web-design/

Most small business websites describe what they do. Very few explain why a customer should choose them specifically.

Phrases like quality service, experienced team, and customer satisfaction guaranteed appear on almost every competitor website. They carry no weight because they mean nothing specific. A visitor reads them and learns nothing that helps them make a decision.

Your differentiator does not have to be dramatic. It might be that you have served the local area for fifteen years. That you offer same day service. That you use a specific technique or product that competitors do not. That you are the only provider of a certain service in your area. Whatever makes you genuinely different from the alternatives your website needs to say it plainly.

Visitors who cannot find a reason to choose you will choose whoever makes that reason clearest. Usually that is whoever built a better website.

This is Reason 5 of 5 reasons your website gets traffic but no calls.
If your website is not bringing in customers we offer a free audit for local businesses. No cost, no obligation. Just a straight look at what is working and what is not.
