As of February 2026, Amazon has canceled its partnership with Flock Safety. This decision followed public backlash regarding privacy concerns, particularly after a Super Bowl ad that suggested Ring cameras could be used to track individuals. Both companies stated that the integration was never launched, and no user videos were shared.

The planned integration with Flock's Community Requests feature was never implemented.

Amazon continues to work with Axon, another police technology company, for different surveillance initiatives.

This cancellation reflects growing concerns about privacy and the implications of combining private surveillance with law enforcement capabilities.

Important:

You most likely have a laptop or desktop computer that has a Solid State Drive (SSD) or a Nvme Drive. These are the newest hard drives and provide fast data transfers compared to older computers.

The Problem:

These newer hard drives have technology called TRIM. When you delete files, TRIM will activate and completely wipe that drive so the files and photos are 99% of the time, unrecoverable.

Let's Talk Home Security Cameras.

There are so many to choose from. From wired, to wireless, to cellular, it never seems to end. What about storage? Where is your information being stored? On the cameras SD card or on a separate DVR inside your home? And is it safe?

Here are a list of questions users ask me when purchasing security cameras to monitor their property.

1. Are the cameras Wireless or Wired? Not many users other than businesses want the hassle of wiring each camera up to their digital video recorder. It requires a lot of time and a much larger expense. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

2. Do I need to run power cords or is it on battery? If its on battery, how long does that last before I need to manually charge the battery for each camera?

3. What is the resolution of the camera? 4K? 1080P? 720P? Or if its IP, higher than 4K?

4. I don't want any maintenance with my home security. I just want it to record and work when I need it.

5. Does it provide remote access so my home cameras are viewable from my personal phone?

6. What happens if my storage gets full?

There are many other questions that users have before indulging in to the surveillance camera market.

Finding the right information is often a challenge in this digital world. If you are searching for specific information or need a difficult question answered precisely, this is where Ai shines. I personally no longer use google, bing or any other basic search engine. Instead I rely on Ai search engines to show me the answer in a very specific way.
Ai is here to stay but the initial learning curve could turn off some people from utilizing it and all it has to offer. One Ai Search Assistant that I personally use is called Perplexity. There are dozens more to use like Google Gemini, ChatGPT, etc, but Perplexity gives me the sense of ease and treats each search as if you are new to the Ai experience. That's what I like about it. Its your choice which one you want to use, but have fun with it. Try a few different ones and see which one fits your needs.
Instead of launching Google and typing in "Best things to do in Portland, Maine", you need to type to it as if you are speaking to another human. Ask a deeper question this way. "What are some fun and exciting things to do in Portland, Maine coming up this year in 2026." You will be amazed at how it responds to you and how it leads you to the next area of interest automatically.

Central Maine Healthcare Hacked!

Over 145,000 Patient information has been stolen. The compromised information, includes full names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, treatment details, provider names, dates of service, and health insurance information.

This hack occurred from March of 2025 to late June of 2025 but just came to light. Some notices via mail were sent out as recently as December of 2025.

What is Bloatware on your laptop or desktop computer?

Brands like Dell, HP and many more, pack systems with their own preinstalled software. These companion apps offer to keep track of your PC's health and manage important updates and bug reports, which sounds useful. Except for the fact that these functions are already performed by your operating system. Windows automatically keeps track of the drivers needed by your PC, and is responsible for fixing any bugs. Which makes the manufacturer's applications essentially useless. Third party software such as Norton and other Anti-viruses can also be included in this mess.

Software like this is a prime example of bloatware: applications consume system resources without providing any useful functionality. Worse, these apps can come installed with elevated permissions and auto-start enabled, which means they quietly launch themselves at boot and keep running in the background. Unlike a random utility app, they are also packed with data collection capabilities, essentially turning these applications into spyware.
