It is seed saving season over here. Every time I walk through my garden I come back with a fistful of this and a pocket full of that.
It reminds me that what I love so much about gardening, about growing things, is the constant shift in focus. Something new always to be done, the next stage of life attended to, preparing, tending, dreaming.
I find saving seed and growing generations after generations of seeds, following the cycle with them, allows me such a deep understanding of each plant, how it grows, the absolute reaches of where it will grow or won't, what it needs and how it threads together with its neighbors.
All of this is knowledge you gain only by knowing them season after season. I love it.
These scarlet runner beans were originally purchased in 2016. I've taken them with me through two moves, a new marriage, and a new baby. I only grow them for the hummingbirds and they know right where to find them.
Anyways. I love it. Happy beautiful, balmy fall evening. A tad late on the equinox but celebrating still ❤️✌️❤️
