The Country Garden Floral collection started from a class I took on from . She taught how to make more complex patterns in Illustrator by layering vector textures and motifs. I was watching the course while I soaked in the bath πŸ›€ (because that's where I like to get my courses in) and my head exploded with ideas. As soon as I got out I headed to my computer to try out some of the ideas I had. 🀯🀯🀯

I began by vectorizing some flowers that I had drawn in on my . I drew a group of little "x" shapes and leafy branches as added motifs and vectorized them as well. I arranged the flowers and leaves into motifs to use in the final pattern.

I vectorized some wood grain texture and made a seamless swatch with it. Next I made some chicken wire hexagons and cut them up in pieces like they had been around in the garden for year and layered them over the wood texture. I layered the floral and "x" motifs on the top and made the seamless swatch.

The last step was to play around with my colors until I was happy with the palette and overall layout. And that was the start of my first pattern collection. I love this pattern and how it looks on so many products.

Many products rely on seamless patterns to stand out. Patterns bring a stylish touch that can influence a buyer's decision, making one product more attractive than its competitors.

Yellow ochre works for so many designs and I find myself drawn to anything of this color.
