I'm so honored and overwhelmed to have been invited to the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art last night. I'm deeply depressed that this is the only photo I could take before my phone died. Rachel has photos and video to make up for it. Sorry I couldn't share more though. This was the Fleischer Betty Boop short with Cab Calloway. At an unbelievable scale. Looked incredible vs this photo.

They literally have artwork, photography and objects that one would never imagine seeing up close. They have amazing MAD magazine pieces on display and in their collection (not on the walls) they have all my original artwork for the Ghastlygun Tinies that was written by Matt Cohen that got us nominated for an Eisner Award back in 2018.

Storytelling is one of the most important things that humans do. This museum is necessary for the our creative human story. May more museums and collections continue archiving our modern dreams, fantasies and personal stories.

Serendipitous mail drop.
My aunt Gail mailed me a clipping of my first piece of press about my self published comics The ANT. It's dated Aug 11 1994 I was 16. Funny that I've got a lot of the same opinions and points of view.

Then I received a some books published by Toxic Waste Studios. Findlay the creator interviewed me for a school project and put me into his Report on Comics. It's edutaining! It was originally made at a whopping 22"x34" (maybe the biggest comic ever). Wayne Carter from CCS in Vermont also makes an appearance. There are some fun facts that I've never known. Findlay is not even in high school! It's so awesome that they're making this stuff at this age. Cyber Fart is the other book Findlay published and it's off to a good start!

I'm still surprised that I'm an influence on people. I still relate to that 16yr old self despite reaching levels of artistic achievements I didn't even think would be possible as a Xerox comic maker in a small town in Michigan.

The Stranger just gave The Beacon Cinema a Genius Award! We got cake too!

I'm so stoked to be involved with this thriving repertoire cinema in Seattle. I'm so proud of Tommy and Shayna who have been running this place together since I've begun working here 3 years ago. They have brilliant taste, they are really following their own path and programing amazing films. They show things that I've either seen and love or things I cannot wait to see. We're all buds here and always have a good time or great conversations.

This is the best theater job I've had. There's were three other theaters I've worked for and I'm having the best time here.

We have some of the best customers as well. Couldn't do this without them. Seeing people come in with an expectation of having a good time or engaging with a cerebral film, helping them get there and then watching them leave with a smile and a "thank you" is the best. We've have some really memorable party rentals too. People have really come to trust our taste and what we represent. This award is validation that we're doing something right.

Recent acquisitions via the mail, Seattle Zine Fest and direct to my hand at the last Dune night.

Grixly is always very generous! Join his Patreon. It's amazing to receive original art from the Long Boxes series. Looking forward to reading the American Nature interview with him.

Chris Pitzer graciously sent me a copy of the John Jacobs and Ken Landgraf artist booklet he put together with unpublished work that is so bizarre and out there it's beautiful!

At the Seattle Zine Fest I picked up the collected Doctor Dracula from Kalen Knowles! One of my favorite world building storytellers making comics in Seattle. I also stopped by Crossroads Folk Horror table and got a supplemental zine about Murder Ballads.

Lastly at Dune a recent contributor Tom Delongchamp gifted me a copy of his impressive book of painted portraits. I mistook some of his work for digital painting and they're not. Some are done with finger prints. Mental!
