5 things to include in a dance teacher contract, as a studio owner. #5 is the one owners get most heated about: a teacher leaves, and some students follow.

1. 1099 or W-2: write which one
2. Pay in numbers, including recitals, rehearsals and meetings
3. Notice, and who finds the sub
4. Other studios and comp weekends: pro-am fees, hotel, travel
5. Who keeps the students when a teacher leaves

Maksym says: split your couples

Not because they shouldn't dance together. Each partner learns at their own rate, and sometimes the husband learns faster than the wife. "Every couple has buttons," and it can "derail the whole lesson." The first five lessons, everybody is usually on their best behavior. After that, it's better if each takes their own lessons, and they dance together here and there
