Dripify is based on the island of Cyprus, and from that one spot on the Mediterranean, they sell to customers in more than 110 countries. They got there without building an internal team to manage global payments, tax, or compliance.

Here's the part most SaaS founders underestimate: Every new country you sell into brings its own tax rules, payment methods, currencies, and compliance requirements. Try to handle all of it yourself, and you're slowly building a second company that has nothing to do with your actual product.

Dripify chose not to worry about that and use FastSpring instead. As Dripify’s merchant of record, FastSpring took on the VAT and sales tax, the international payment processing, the invoicing, and the fraud prevention. Dripify’s product, engineering, finance, and customer success teams were all able to lean on that from day one.

What it bought them was focus. Instead of researching tax jurisdictions, they kept building the sales automation platform their customers came for.

110 countries. One product team. Zero payments headcount.

Last year, our first survey on the state of D2C caught the gaming industry standing right at the edge of a shift in monetization strategy.

This year, the shift already happened. D2C is not an experiment or an edge play anymore, and the publishers who held out are getting pulled along by the ones who did not.

That is the whole reason to run the same survey two years running. You stop guessing at the direction and start measuring the speed.

This year, our Annual State of D2C Game Monetization Survey is a strategic view of D2C from gaming industry leaders. True practitioners, all of them developers, and over 90% of these leaders are making over $10M a year in revenue.

That matters if you are still weighing the move or looking to optimize any part of the funnel. The case you take into a leadership meeting should be the one that is actually holding up for publishers a year into running D2C, not the one that sounded convincing in 2023.

The insights you need for your 2027 D2C plans are linked below:

The number one reason publishers adopt D2C is not to increase profit margins. That came in fourth.

Chip Thurston took our Annual State of D2C Game Monetization Survey results to 2.5 Gamers before the report is officially released at gamescom, which felt like the right call given that we've been pushing this conversation forward for six episodes now. They do not let a stat sit unexamined, and our latest survey results deserved that treatment.

Ahead of profit margins: brand visibility and loyalty, first-party player data, and control over pricing and promotions. Owning the player relationship is now the leading business case, not dodging the platform cut.

The conversation also gets into why adoption moved so little year over year, and the three misconceptions keeping the holdouts on the sidelines. Chip's read is that all three are anchored to 2023 and the paradigm in monetization strategy has shifted since.

Thanks as always to the 2.5 Gamers team for the time, and look out for the full survey’s results tomorrow! Watch the full episode: https://buff.ly/ZQPLsgh

You can build the best product roadmap in the world, but at the end of the day, customer sentiment tells the real story.

NPS measures one thing: whether the people who use a product would recommend it to someone else.

An independent research firm just handed us a number we didn't get to pick.

A highly respected independent research firm surveyed 99 companies on their experience with payments partners such as FastSpring.

We’re proud to share that we earned the highest net promoter score among top merchants of records: 65.

100% of our customers surveyed agreed we provide good value for money, and we were the only platform among top MoRs to earn all positive responses on that question in particular.

An NPS isn’t just a score; it’s proof of trust. To our incredible customers who partner with us every day to scale globally: thank you. We're honored to support your growth.

If you're evaluating any crucial platform such as an MoR for your team, the rate of recommendation by real customers is a signal that you can take seriously. FastSpring's came out the highest.

Are platform steering fees really a penalty or a high-ROI growth channel?

On the surface, paying Apple and Google to direct players off-platform feels like a tax. But handled strategically, it’s one of the best profit opportunities your game has.

The reason: more than 90% of web store transactions come from players who purchased in the last 30 days. Train a player to buy on your web store once, and they come back, at full margin, again and again.

Braden Steel, our Head of Product and Solutions Marketing, lays out a five-step approach to turn that first steered purchase into a lasting web store habit:
-Lead with web-exclusive value on the first steer
-Capture email and drop a retargeting pixel at checkout
-Wait out the fee attribution window
-Re-engage through owned channels, fee-free
-Retire in-game CTAs for players who've already converted

That first steer is a one-time cost. Keep the margin forever.
