Beware of what I call the AI Ick.
If you’re new to AI, you may not notice it yet. But if you’ve spent enough time around ChatGPT and similar tools, you can start to recognize the signature.
And here’s where it becomes a problem.
If you’re a salesperson, a business owner, a thought leader, or an expert in your field, people aren’t following you because they want to hear from AI. They’re following you because they want your experience, your perspective, and your insights.
I’ve seen it happen with people I genuinely admire. People I’ve followed for years. Their newsletters changed. Their emails changed. The voice changed.
I still respect them. I still think they’re great at what they do.
But I stopped reading.
Not because the information was bad. Because it wasn’t coming from them anymore.
Use AI as a tool. Use it to brainstorm, research, organize ideas, and become more efficient. But don’t outsource the thing that makes you valuable in the first place: your unique voice.
People want your expertise.
Not a copy-and-paste from a chatbot.
