STARTS TODAY at 1 PM Eastern!

The free 3-day AI for Business Summit kicks off today β€” three days of practical, real-world AI training for business owners, live on Zoom. No fluff, no tech talk, just things you can actually use.

I learned everything I know about AI for business through this group, and I can't recommend it enough.

Signup link is in the first comment β€” see you there!

πŸš€ Something close to our hearts:

Breck AI Media wouldn't exist without AI. When we started this business, learning to use AI practically β€” for content, follow-ups, staying organized β€” changed everything about how we work.

We learned most of it from a group called AI for Business, and they're hosting a FREE 3-day virtual Summit starting TOMORROW (Wed Oct 14).

It's built for business owners, not tech people β€” practical, beginner-friendly, no tech background needed. If AI has been on your "I should look into that" list, this is the place to start.

πŸ‘‰ Free registration link in the first comment!

Can't make it live? They'll send the recordings to everyone who registers.

Almost every small business owner we talk to says the same thing about AI:

"I'm just not a tech person."

Good news. You don't have to be.

If you can send a text message, you can use AI. You just type what you need in plain English, like:

πŸ‘‰ "Write a friendly reminder text for customers with appointments tomorrow."

πŸ‘‰ "Turn these notes into a Facebook post about our fall special."

πŸ‘‰ "Help me reply politely to this unhappy customer."

That's it. No coding. No complicated software. No team required.

The business owners getting ahead right now aren't the most tech-savvy ones. They're the ones who stopped waiting to "understand it" and started using it on the small stuff.

So let's start small.

What's one task in your business you'd hand off tomorrow if you could? πŸ‘‡

Your thank-you page is probably a white screen with two words on it.

"Thank You"

Your customer just filled out your form, which means they like you enough to hand you their contact info. And that's what they get.

Here's what goes there instead. Copy this, swap in your details, paste it in tonight:

"Got it, [business name] will reach out within [real timeframe]. Questions before then? Call or text us at [number]. You're in good hands."

Three sentences. Sets expectations. Stops the anxiety spiral. Makes them feel like they picked the right person.

It takes 6 minutes and costs nothing.

Send this to your business partner or whoever touches your website. Easiest fix nobody ever makes.

Introducing The Tuesday Teardown, a new weekly thing I'm doing here. Every Tuesday I pick one broken website element and take it apart piece by piece. Today's victim: the hero image with text nobody can read on a phone.

It is also Mad Hatter Day. Your homepage is a tea party where the menu is in pale cursive on a white tablecloth. Nobody knows what you serve.

The 4-question phone-screen test, steal it:

1. CONTRAST: white text on a bright photo is unreadable. Add a dark overlay.
2. FONT SIZE: under 28px on a hero headline is too small. Period.
3. PLACEMENT: text sitting on top of a busy part of the image is invisible. Move it to the flat area.
4. IMAGE DISAPPEARS TEST: cover the photo with your hand. Does your headline still make sense? "Feel the Difference" does not. "Same-day plumbing in Boise" does.

Number 4 is the one that catches people out. Save this for the next time you're about to publish a new hero.

Confession: I have been dunking on bad button labels for months.

My own contact form said 'Submit' until embarrassingly recently.

Submit. The word people use when they file a complaint with HR.

I changed it to five words: Send Me Your Quote.

BEFORE: Submit
AFTER: Send Me Your Quote

Same form. Same page. Same everything. But 'Submit' sounds like the visitor is doing paperwork, and 'Send Me Your Quote' sounds like they are about to get something they actually want.

Go find your contact or booking button right now. If it says Submit, Get Started, Click Here, or Learn More, that button is working against you.

What is the worst word currently sitting on a button on your site?

Sunday Gut Check. Go open your About page and read the first sentence out loud.

If it sounds anything like this:

"Founded in 2009, we have proudly served the community."

Stop. The person reading that is standing in a wet kitchen at 11 p.m. They do not care about 2009.

Here is the fix, and you can paste it in tonight:

BEFORE: "Founded in 2009, we have proudly served the community."

AFTER: "You called because something is leaking, broken, or making a noise it shouldn't. We pick up, we show up, and we fix it."

The subject of your About page should be the customer, not your founding documents.

Send this to whoever wrote the one on your site.

Quick challenge: pull up your services page right now and count how many items a stranger would actually search for.

BEFORE: 'Turf Management / Hardscape Solutions / Property Enhancement'
AFTER: 'Mow my lawn / Build a patio / Fix my sprinklers'

The second list looks almost too simple. Good. Simple is what people type when they are stressed and need help fast.

I had this exact problem on my own site when I launched Breck AI Media. I wrote for the version of me who already knew what I did. Nobody searching for help knew any of those words.

Tell me: how many items on YOUR services page would a panicking customer actually Google, and what is the worst offender?

Happy Friday. Here's this week's number: 9.

Nine is how many fields I counted on a contact form this week before I gave up and closed the tab. Nine. To ask one question. I have renewed a license with less paperwork than that.

Here's a real 9-field form:

"Full name. Email. Phone. Business name. Service needed. Timeline. Budget. How did you find us. Additional comments."

Here's the 3-field version that actually gets submitted:

"Your name. What do you need. Best number to reach you."

Name: so you're not emailing 'hi.' Problem description: so you show up to the call prepared. Phone number: so a call actually happens.

Everything else is for your spreadsheet, not their convenience. Cut it.

Save this for the next time you're rebuilding your site and feel the urge to add a budget dropdown.

Rest in peace, "Welcome to our website."

You appeared on millions of homepages. You answered no questions. You helped no one find anything. You will not be missed.

Seriously though. If those are the first words on your homepage, your visitors are making a decision in about 11 seconds and that sentence is not helping them make the right one.

Here's the swap:

BEFORE: "Welcome to our website."
AFTER: "We do mobile dog grooming in the Dallas metro, seven days a week."

Who you are. What you do. Where. Done.

You do not need a web designer to make that change. You need five minutes and your login.

Send this to the person who built your website before they write "Welcome" on someone else's homepage.
