💈❤️ LOCAL MAGOFFIN BARBER SAYS GOODBYE AFTER SIX YEARS SERVING SALYERSVILLE

After six years behind the chair, Kenny Bailey of Kenny’s Barber Stop is closing his Salyersville shop and stepping away from barbering.

Bailey’s family announced the closure, saying health issues and upcoming surgeries have made it time for him to stop working.

Before becoming a barber, Bailey worked in the coal mines and at Toyota. His family said barbering became his calling, and thanked the many customers who helped make the shop successful over the years.

Bailey also thanked his clients for their patronage, friendship and support, saying he will miss seeing everyone.

We wish Kenny the very best in this next chapter.

💰 KENTUCKY DOES NOT MEET TRIGGER FOR ANOTHER INCOME TAX RATE CUT

Kentucky has not met the statutory conditions required for another reduction in the state individual income tax rate, according to a new determination from the Office of State Budget Director.

State Budget Director John Hicks reported that while Kentucky’s Budget Reserve Trust Fund met the required threshold, General Fund revenues were not high enough compared with appropriations and the amount needed to support another rate reduction.

Kentucky’s individual income tax rate dropped from 4% to 3.5% beginning in 2026. Based on the latest review, the state does not qualify for another reduction under the existing tax-cut trigger.

⛽📈 U.S. DIESEL PRICES HIT RECORD HIGH, AVERAGING ABOUT $5.85 PER GALLON

The national average price of diesel reached an all-time high of about $5.85 per gallon Friday, according to AAA.

That is up roughly 58% from $3.71 a year ago and nearly 9% from last month. Regular gasoline is also higher, averaging about $4.18 per gallon, compared with $3.20 a year ago.

The increases come as the conflict with Iran and disruption through the Strait of Hormuz continue to strain global oil supplies. Higher diesel costs can also increase transportation expenses for goods shipped by truck.

The White House says President Donald Trump is working with U.S. refiners to expand capacity and expects oil and gas prices to decline as disruptions tied to the conflict ease.
