FROM STORY TO SYSTEM
Episode 01: Greater Bay Electric’s Rebrand
Greater Bay Electric came to us during an important transition. Formerly Tru Electric of the Bay, they had chosen a new name and needed a brand identity that could help tell the story behind it.
DISCOVERY
Every branding project starts with discovery. Before we design anything, we learn the business. Who are you? Why do you do what you do? What matters to you? What makes you different? Then we study the market, the competition and the visual landscape to find opportunities to stand apart instead of simply blending in.
With Greater Bay Electric, one thing became clear very quickly: community means everything to them.
They are local. Family-owned. Florida-born. They support other local businesses, show up for their neighbors and genuinely care about the community they serve.
That became the story behind the brand:
“Greater Bay Electric powers Pinellas.
And the Pinellas Community powers Greater Bay Electric.”
BUILDING THE VISUAL IDENTITY
From that idea, we developed a complete visual identity system including the logo, color palette, typography, brand graphics, website, business cards, uniforms and other applications designed to feel like one recognizable brand wherever customers encounter them.
Greater Bay Electric wasn’t designed to simply look like an electrical company. It was built to represent the community that gives the company its purpose.
The logo brings that idea to life by combining two recognizable symbols. The lightning bolt represents electricity, energy and the work Greater Bay Electric provides every day. Growing from within the bolt is a palm tree, representing Pinellas and the Florida community they proudly serve.
It creates a visual representation of the relationship between Greater Bay Electric and the community around them. They help power Pinellas, while the people and businesses of Pinellas are what give the company its purpose.
