Your customers get your time. Your employees get your time. Your jobs get your time. But does your business?

Most contractors spend the entire week working IN the business.

Service calls.
Emergencies.
Customers.
Installations.
Problems.

All necessary.

But growth requires some time working ON the business too.

Review your numbers. Improve a process. Build an SOP. Work on training. Plan your marketing. Think about your next hire.

Try blocking out just two uninterrupted hours every week specifically for improving the business.

No service calls. No customers. No interruptions.

If you had 2 uninterrupted hours, what would you work ON your company?

Here's a follow-up system you can steal for your business today.

Following up doesn't need to be complicated.

After sending an estimate, create a simple schedule:

Day 1: Follow up with a text
Day 3: Follow up with an email
Day 7: Follow up with a call
Day 14: Follow up with another text

Whatever makes sense for your business.

The important part is making sure every estimate gets followed up on consistently.

You don't need some incredibly creative message.

Be helpful. Stay available. Stay consistent.

Save the 1-3-7-14 rule and try it on your next estimate.

08/13/2026

How many estimates have you written off simply because the customer went quiet?

You send the estimate.

A few days go by.

Nothing.

So you assume they weren't interested and move on.

But silence doesn't necessarily mean they hired somebody else.

People work. They have families. They forget. They get distracted. That estimate might simply have fallen down their priority list.

Good follow-up isn't about pestering people.

It's about staying in the conversation long enough to get an actual answer.

Contractors: how many times do you typically follow up after sending an estimateโ€”0, 1, 2, or 3+?

08/12/2026

You probably don't need another marketing strategy.

SEO. Facebook. Google. YouTube. Networking. Referrals.

It's easy for a small contractor to think they need to be doing all of it.

But spreading limited time and money across ten things can mean never getting particularly good at any of them.

Pick one lead source.

Give yourself 90 days.

Learn it. Track it. Improve it. Get exceptionally good at it.

Then consider adding the next one.

You don't need to be everywhere to build momentum.

If you could only keep ONE source of new business tomorrow, which one are you keeping?

08/11/2026

Hustle can build a business. But eventually, hustle can become the bottleneck.

When you're starting out, you ARE the business.

You're networking.
You're selling.
You're asking for referrals.
You're finding customers.
You're pushing everything forward.

There's nothing wrong with that. It's often exactly what getting a business off the ground requires.

But eventually, some of the money coming in has to go toward building something that works when you don't.

People. Processes. Systems. Repeatable lead sources.

Otherwise, the moment you stop pushing, growth stops with you.

Quick quiz... don't cheat.

Without looking...

Can you answer these questions?

โ€ข What was your revenue last month?
โ€ข Your profit?
โ€ข Your average ticket?
โ€ข Your close rate?
โ€ข How many leads came in?
โ€ข How many jobs did you actually sell?

If not, you're not alone.

A lot of contractors start there.

But the businesses that grow consistently know their numbers because what gets measured gets improved.

๐Ÿ‘‡ How many of those questions could you answer from memory?

08/09/2026

Ever finish the week and wonder where all your time went?

Running a business means wearing a lot of hats.

But not every hat belongs on the owner's head forever.

If you're spending hours:

Answering phones
Scheduling appointments
Sending invoices
Following up on estimates
Updating spreadsheets
..you're probably working in your business instead of on it.

The question isn't whether those tasks are important.

The question is whether you're the only person who should be doing them.

๐Ÿ‘‡ What's ONE task you'd love to never do again?

08/08/2026

Most business owners don't hire because they're growing... they hire because they're exhausted.

I see this all the time.

Contractors wait until they're buried in work before they finally ask for help.

By then...

They're stressed.

Customers are waiting.

And there's no time left to train someone properly.

Instead, ask yourself one simple question:

That question alone can completely change how you grow your business.

What's one task you're still doing that someone else could learn?

08/08/2026

One question changed how I look at running a business...

Every task in your business falls into one of two categories:

It can be transferred.
It can't.

If it can't be transferred to someone else, you'll be responsible for it forever.

That's why documenting your processes is so important.

It's not about paperwork.

It's about creating the freedom to eventually hand work off without starting from scratch every time.

08/06/2026

What if documenting one process could improve BOTH your business and your marketing?

Most contractors think Standard Operating Procedures are only for training employees.

They're missing half the opportunity.

Every time you document:

How you answer the phone
How you send estimates
How you ask for reviews
How you handle referrals
..you're also documenting valuable knowledge your customers want to understand.

One SOP can become better employee training today and educational marketing tomorrow.

That's working smarter, not harder.
