Great stories deserve to be told well.

We're pleased to share a recent video production created for the National Character Association.

What begins with Christopher Columbus becomes a fascinating journey through American history—exploring the origins of “Columbia” as a poetic name for America and the spirit of exploration that carried our nation from the Atlantic Ocean to the frontiers of space.

At IFBDesign, we believe effective communication begins with understanding the message. This project brought together historical research, scriptwriting, narration, visual storytelling, and video production to transform an important educational subject into an engaging visual experience.

One of my favorite video projects I’ve produced recently.

This short commercial was created for the Dawson County Sheriff Foundation, Inc. to help communicate what the Foundation does and encourage support for its work in Dawson County.

The Dawson County Sheriff's Office - Dawsonville, GA provided most of the footage, and I handled the edit, voice-over, music, pacing, effects, and final production.

The client response was very positive, and I’m especially pleased with how this one came together.

Video production is one of the ways IFBDesign helps organizations take the story and assets they already have and turn them into something clear, polished, and useful.

Website maintenance should be more than logging in once a month and clicking “update” on a few plugins. (Link in the Comments)

When I talk about website care, I am really talking about stewardship.

Is the site backed up properly? Is it secure? Are the forms still working? Is the SSL certificate healthy? Is the site staying online and performing the way it should? Has an update caused something to look or function differently than it did before?

Those are the kinds of things I want to know before a client has to discover a problem for themselves.

A website is an ongoing part of an organization, not a project that stops needing attention the day it launches.

That is a big part of how I approach WordPress maintenance at IFBDesign: protect what has already been built, keep an eye on it, and be there when something needs attention.

One of the things I enjoy about video production is that the real work often begins long before the editing timeline opens.

I recently produced this new video for the National Character Association, exploring how pastors and religious thought helped prepare the American colonies for the Revolution.

For this project, my role included historical research, scriptwriting, voiceover, video editing, and the overall production of the finished piece for NCA's YouTube channel.

Projects like this bring together several things I really enjoy: digging into a subject, finding the story within the research, writing it in a way that keeps people engaged, and then using narration, imagery, sound, and pacing to bring that story to life.

Your website is an investment. But after it launches, who is actually responsible for taking care of it?

One of the highlights of this year has been partnering with the National Character Association to help tell the story of America's founding through educational videos and resources.

Hannah Barnes, born and raised in Winnebago County, has advanced to the regional round of the Star-Spangled Sing-Off after winning the Rockford Region.

Now she’s carrying her northern Illinois singing voice forward with a performance rooted in faith, family, freedom, and gratitude for the sacrifice behind our national anthem.

With America’s 250th birthday approaching, this is a meaningful chance to support an Illinois singing voice on a larger stage.

The national anthem is more than a song for Hannah Barnes.

Born and raised in Winnebago County, Illinois, Hannah sings from a place of faith, family, freedom, gratitude, and reverence. As a pastor’s wife, mother, church musician, and teacher, the meaning of the anthem runs deep.

That meaning is personal. Her grandfather was a World War II Navy man who served on the USS St. Louis, and multiple members of her family have served in the armed forces.

Over the years, Hannah has sung the National Anthem at various events. Since she was a teenager, she has also played Taps on the trumpet to honor those who gave everything.

The National Character Association YouTube channel recently passed 5,000 subscribers.

What makes this project interesting to me is how it started.

The organization initially hired IFBDesign to build its website. During that process, they asked for ideas on how to better educate their audience about America's founding principles.

The first idea became a 52-card educational deck, which I researched and produced.

Later, we expanded that concept into a YouTube video series, where each episode explores one of those topics in greater depth.

Since then, the channel has grown to:
• 5,700+ subscribers
• 66,000+ views
• 34 long-form episodes
• 25 YouTube Shorts
• With more in production

For the series, I handle the research, scripting, narration, and production.
It’s been rewarding to watch a simple educational concept evolve into an ongoing video platform.

Projects like this are a reminder that strong educational content often starts with a clear idea and a consistent production process. Building structured educational media like this is one of the most meaningful kinds of work I get to do.
