I want to thank for awarding "Rest Along The Raquette" the Becky Harblin Memorial Award, and "Performing Arts Center" a second place award at the plein air showcase last night.

Becky was my first pastel teacher, introducing me to this colorful obsession. She was a prolific and carefree painter and a bright shining person, joyous to be around. There could be no greater compliment than to hear that my painting embodied "Becky vibes." I hope she would have liked it.

It's my birthday! There's no better way to spend it than doing some plein air, if the weather cooperates. Check out the painting process for "Rest Along The Raquette", an 11x14" pastel I painted last week in Ives Park.

If you want to celebrate with me, come see this and other works at the SLC Arts plein air festival show tonight at the Waddinton Town Hall, from 4-6pm. I will probably get there late, as I'll be heading home from Syracuse that day, but I'm hoping to catch the end of it.

I can't believe this time last year I was on my way to my residency at Chateau d'Orquevaux in France. I've been so busy lately the anniversary almost snuck up on me! I wish I could be right back here with all these lovely people again.

This was an incredible opportunity to meet some amazing people (and eat some delicious food) and relax, using my days to do nothing more than think about what I wanted to paint. I highly recommend anyone take the leap, if you are thinking of applying for a similar experience.

My solo exhibition at Tupper Arts opens tonight at 5pm!
Will I see you there?

"Northern Tales" is a solo exhibition that has taken over Tupper Arts for the next few weeks, featuring colorful pastels of plein air and studio works from my travels. On display until June 14 at 106 Park St, Tupper Lake, NY.
