Eric Nyffeler Design & Illustration

Eric Nyffeler Design & Illustration Making sh*t / Breaking sh*t. Portland body / Midwest guts. He is currently based in the Pacific Northwest, but spent his formative years in American Heartland.

Eric Nyffeler is a designer/illustrator/human/living denim jacket who specializes in editorial and commercial illustration, screen printed posters, branding, and tasteless jokes. He has formal schooling in visual communication and design and print-making, and has been known to speak at various universities about such topics. His gritty geometry, analog textures, and mid-century whimsy has landed h

is work on and in some of the nation’s most hallowed walls and pages. Eric, occasionally seen operating under the Doe Eyed moniker, cut his teeth creating screen printed gigposters for some of the most notable musicians of our day, ranging from local punk bands to Grammy Award-winning artists. In recent years, he’s expanded his professional focus away from the stage, creating illustrations, icons, typography, and other visual ephemera for some of the world’s most exciting brands and publications.

"Make Something" is Big Cartel's mini-doc series about working, living, and making it as an artist, so if you've ever wanted to see me push synth buttons, draw an octopus, and wax philosophic about photocopiers, you'll probably want to see this!

Make Something is a short documentary series by Big Cartel on working, living, and making it as an artist. While playing in bands, Eric Nyffeler started desi...

I am beyond thrilled to unveil “Congregation #7” and "Congregation #5", my two contributions to THE VACVVM's Silent Aviary II show opening at the Mondo Gallery in Austin, Texas this Friday! These screenprinted and sewn fabric flags are my reimagined versions of the Lone Star state reborn as some sort of occult religious nation, which is maybe not too far from the truth. The line up for this show is absolutely unreal, so if you can somehow attend, you need to be there. I have been such a huge fan of The Vacvvum since its inception, so I can’t explain how flattered I am to be included in one of their shows. Consider this flag my declaration of allegiance!

After being sold out for the last couple years, I finally got my “Rooftops” poster reprinted and back in stock! This has always been one of my favorite art prints, so it feels good to have it available again. This five color print is available in my webstore if anyone is wants to visit this quiet little city. Love to my The Half and Half crew for the lovely print job!

recently had the pleasure of teaming up with San Francisco's amazing Outside Lands Music Festival to create a screenprinted poster for their 2018 gathering, including acts such as The Weeknd, Janet Jackson, Beck, Bon Iver, and Father John Misty to name a few. I decided to build a scene full of San Fran specific knick-knacks and souvenirs nestled amongst a shelf of lush houseplants. Who wouldn't enjoy a shelf as full of color as this?! I’ll have some copies of this up in my webstore soon, if you need some extra color in your life! Expertly ink-to-paper’d by hometown heroes Seizure Palace!

I had an absolute blast helping my friends at KEEN Footwear bring some pizazz to their annual Keenfest meeting/party/street fair! This year’s theme was “Celebrating Open Spaces,” so I crafted a whimsical and detailed West-to-East look at Oregon and Portland, complete with dozens of recognizable landmarks and locations. This scene was used in everything from tshirts to banners to stage graphics, but the highlight was definitely the triptych of screenprinted posters breaking the scene down into “Coast,” “City”, and “Gorge” sections. Big love to Seizure Palace for bringing these prints to life!

There are few things I enjoy more than drawing colorful little icons, so when Airbnb Magazine came looking for fourteen little scenes for a two page calendar of Bucket-List Trips, you’d better believe that I had some fun. Sq**rt guns, piñatas, beer steins, dragon boats, pizza, musical festivals…you name it, this calendar has everything everything festive you could ask for! I think a few of these icons ended up being used on the main website and app as well. Thanks to Mallory Roynon and Lisa Lok for the fun art direction!

I just realized this morning that I never shared this laser-burnt wood engraving that I made for a gallery show at Mondo almost three years ago. It sits on my bookshelf staring down at me all day long, silently mouthing its words of encouragement. Hopefully he can help all you start your morning off with the right bummer!

Special love to my bud Jerod for being a master with the laser!

Just in time for the change of seasons, I am excited to finally release my new print for Mount Rainier National Park! Since moving to the PNW a few years back, I have become obsessed with the overwhelming amount of natural beauty of this region! In the first of what will be many pieces celebrating the vistas and foliage of my new home, I drew up this early morning view of Mount Rainier in the spring, complete with some bear cubs frolicking in a field of lupine and avalanche lilies. This 18”x24” four-color beauty is now available for purchase over in my webstore!

Expertly printed by my friends at The Half and Half and photographed by my bud Ian Whitmore.
