Today feels like one of those days where I have to stop and acknowledge how much has changed.
I got approval for my first client site launch as a PM at New Theory today, with another likely tomorrow. 🥹 Working with this team has genuinely been such an honor. The caliber of talent here is ridiculous, and I’m still incredibly flattered that I get to manage projects involving their work. They inspire the hell out of me.
And somehow, on the same day, I officially launched CanopyCMD, my first Mac app.
Building it taught me the entire journey from “I wish this existed” through UX, product architecture, development, infrastructure, testing, distribution, licensing, customer management, and now marketing.
I have spent an unreasonable amount of time in Terminal, GitHub, Supabase, Vercel, APIs, SQL, DNS, CLIs and developer documentation. 😂
Somewhere along the way, something clicked: all of the skills I’ve collected over the years suddenly belong together. Design, UI/UX, digital marketing, branding, project management, systems thinking, product strategy, customer experience, technical problem solving, automation, analytics… apparently this was all leading somewhere.
I feel like I accidentally developed superpowers. 😂
Also, APPARENTLY I BUILD LICENSING SYSTEMS NOW?! I built my own customer + licensing infrastructure that can eventually support the rest of the software products I’m working on. Sometimes I remember that and just stare into the void. 🤯
CanopyCMD is technically app #1 of roughly 40 ideas currently existing in various states of completion. 🥴😂 I’m starting with the easier ones and eventually working my way back toward the ~48,000-line e-commerce monster waiting at the end.
Its potential scares the absolute s**t out of me, which has absolutely nothing to do with why I’m saving it for last. 👀😂
Okay. Maybe a little.
Mostly, I’m just really proud of what I’ve learned and slightly bewildered by the version of myself emerging from the last two years of hell. 🐦🔥
