When a new team member is learning a task, how much direction should they get? Start with clear instructions. Tell them exactly what to do and how to do it. This works best when they’re new or the task has little room for error.

As they improve, shift to research-based tasks. Have them gather information while you make the final call. This builds confidence without adding unnecessary risk. Delegation should match the skill level of the employee. The goal is to build independence over time.

Working with autoclaves and sterilizers comes with real risks. Hot instruments, steam, and sharp tools can all lead to burns or cuts if proper precautions are not in place.
