Alder & Pine A&P is a visual design entity that creates with intention. Behind A&P // My name is Val & I am the human behind the entity.

What this means is that all things put forth into the world are done so with much thought behind its impact to leave this world better than before. Within design, I create an elevated, sustainable, eco-conscious & nature-inspired approach to much of my work. The importance of a logo is essentially the first impression of a business. It's the visual tone, the overall vibe about what your business sells. Dainty, small lines feel feminine, a serif font feels classy, and a bold sans-serif feels modern or assertive.

What does creating with intention mean?

In a society where consumption & grinding away at work is the backbone to our economy, it's easy to become overwhelmed or desensitized to the impact our decisions can make. This is why I have chosen to create work with a more positive impact.

Okay, but what does that scope of work look like? Well, that means sustainable, eco-concious decisions drive what and who I design for or the things I create.

That might include more web work than print, using printing techniques that are eco-friendly or biodegradable, avoiding the use of or creating packaging and unnecessary plastics when possible, designing for smaller & locally owned businesses versus corporations that don't align with my morals & goals. (I see you fast fashion)

This isn't meant to handicap myself in any way, it's just an alignment of who I am, who I want to be, and how I can create amazing, forward-thinking work for businesses that are awesome for what they do.
