As my family and I settle into our seats on the plane, heading to our favorite place—the beach—I found myself thinking about how similar preparing for a tropical vacation is to ensuring network security.
Think of how you prepare to face the sun on a tropical vacation. Sunscreen shields you from harmful UV rays, protective clothing provides additional coverage, and a wide-brimmed hat offers shade. Together, these measures reduce the risk of sunburn.
In network security, layers like firewalls, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and encryption serve the same purpose. Each layer addresses a specific vulnerability, creating a robust defense system. Relying on just one—like sunscreen without a hat—leaves you exposed.
Lesson: Enjoying peace of mind—on a tropical beach or in your digital environment—comes from combining thoughtful preparation with active awareness.
