It’s been one of the warmest Februarys that I can remember. Yesterday got up to 60 degrees. I painted this study of Mt. Everest for two reasons. One, because I miss the snow; and two, I needed to learn how to create depth and texture in mountains.•

This is my favorite painting to date. I went back and forth a lot about whether or not I wanted to sell this piece. I thought about auctioning it off, listing it for a high price, finding a show or gallery to put it in. Nothing really seemed right other than keeping it, at least for a little while longer.•

As an artist, I find myself constantly doing and making things in order to chase the almighty dollar. While financial stability from my work is always the goal, it’s easy to forget why I even started chasing this career to begin with. My art is my first love and one of the only things I care to be any good at, whether I make money off of it or not.•
