Today… wow. I started early around 10am, and did not stop until 9:45om tonight. I had a few 20-30 min breaks for coffee and stretching and caring for the pups. But WOW. I edited all of chapters 4-8 today. A HUGE chunk of the book has been edited, revised and sent to master copy. “Bloody Incredible” is coasting right along ahead of schedule. A couple more weeks or less, we should be there friends. My life’s work, my story, my trauma, my flaws, my imperfections, my personal demons all vetted and tossed into the abyss and soon — your hands.
I remember starting a version of this book back in 2006 called “A Family of Killers.” It was a play on words alluding to my family having the genetic deformity of passing down the hereditary disease of hemophilia, and how that disease snowballed into eventual death for so many who were born with the bleeding disorder. There was also a second attempt in 2011 with a new title called “Strive to Thrive” which made it to about 3 chapters. I always struggled with finding time to sit down and write, with busy lifestyles, moving to Orlando, working a job and flying around the US for Blue Man Group, my writing was thwarted by constantly being on the go.
Then the pandemic happened. Lockdown. Months upon months secluded in our homes. The window provided me the perfect time to write it all out. 12 chapters of my life — unfiltered, gory, messy and full of stories to make you smile, reflect and even grossed out at times.
