It's a special feeling having your work juried into a show. It's always a little nerve wracking having an esteemed juror judge your work, but it feels so rewarding when they choose it to be part of an exhibition. 210 pieces submitted by 78 artists from around the region. In the end, 42 works from 42 artists were chosen. I always say I'm honored to be part of an exhibition, but I really am. It's amazing to have the opportunity to show my work.

The exhibition runs July 7th until August 28th at the Leonor R. Fuller Gallery @ The Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts

Artists were told the response to the exhibition call was astounding with a total of 210 pieces submitted by 78 artists from around the region. Janae Huber, this year’s guest juror, chose 42 works from 42 artists. I'm honored and excited to have my piece chosen and can't wait to see the other accepted pieces.

I had the pleasure of creating this piece as a retirement gift for the for 29 years of service. Lots of planning and mockups went into creating this piece. I used 12x12 acrylic paper with a linen finish and Inkline pens. The different tips and sizes of the pens helped me to capture each element at varying scales. It was the first time I used that type of paper; I chose it because of the look and feel. The linen texture on the paper helped to add extra and unexpected interest as I shaded certain areas.

I'm honored to know her and thankful for her years of service. Congratulations to Brigadier General Letendre United States Air Force (Retired) and her family.

It's always extra hard to draw or paint people you know. There is added pressure to get every detail right, and too much artistic license can confuse the viewer. I went for a more accurate representation instead of a looser interpretation for this piece.

Drawing figures at a smaller scale is a little bit tricky, I have to be more deliberate with lines so I don't muddy everything up. It was important to capture this family as accurately as I could for this piece. It's been truly a pleasure getting to know them.

The Cadet Chapel at USAFA in Colorado Springs is a perfect example of modernist architecture. I never got to see it in person, as it's been going through a long renovation, but its shapes and angles were always captivating. Kind of a pain to capture, straight architectural lines aren't really what I like to draw, but I'm happy with how this turned out.
