Bay Area pizza is definitely having a moment — and June’s Pizza is right at the center of it in West Oakland. A fine dining philosophy layered into an everyday favorite, pepperoni pizza, results into something very original. Every element is dialed in.

Acclaimed chef, restaurateur, and founder Lisa Dahl’s story isn’t just about food — it’s about what happens after unimaginable loss, and how purpose can emerge from it. After her son Justin was murdered in San Francisco in the 1990s while helping someone in need, Lisa rebuilt her life in Sedona, AZ through cooking — and over the past 30 years, creating an acclaimed six-restaurant culinary group that now serves half-a-million guests each year.

In December 2025, she launched the Lisa Dahl Foundation (www.lisadahlfoundation.org) — a 501(c)(3) addressing severe food insecurity in Native American communities across Arizona — anchored by “Soup Hope,” a nutrient-dense, plant-based meal designed to deliver nearly a full day’s nutrition per serving.

Lisa navigates grief and has rebuilt her life with intention and shows how food can be a form of healing and connection. Her success has turned into service to have a lasting impact on all those she feeds. Spirituality, resilience, and purpose-driven leadership is at the heart of everything Lisa Dahl pursues.

Epic wine country sold-out screening of “Lisa Dahl: Blessed By Grace” at the FORK2FILM Festival in St. Helena with Lisa Dahl, Eric Wolfinger, myself, and Donna Kato of Adonna Wines all in the house! Our film “Blessed By Grace” will return on April 21 at Cameo on Main Street for an encore screening of the Short Film Program.
