Most organizations don’t lack purpose. They lack clarity. Design is what turns ideas into something people understand and act on. We use design to make messages sharper, clearer, and more engaging.

When that happens, people pay attention.

Dehumanizing is the poison in the well right now.

So many relationships—in business, in nonprofits—have become transactional. Guilt-based. Pity-based. It does enormous damage to what we think is possible.

When we see people as projects instead of people, we lose the capacity for real change.

If your organization is ready to build something more authentic and meaningful, let's explore it together.

As politics continue to shift and global crises deepen, the digital landscape keeps shifting in the face of corporate conglomeration and capital. Through this all, we’ve found truth in the adage “stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.”

As part of our 10 year anniversary celebrations, we’re turning to the best guides we know: AGI’s own team. Drawing on lived experience and creativity, here’s what each of us sees as the forces shaping the next decade of communications: https://www.agreatidea.com/insights/designing-the-future-together

In a new episode of the Find Your Cause podcast, A Great Idea founder Shane Lukas challenges the lone-activist mindset and makes the case for community, systems, and authentic impact storytelling.

“Two hands out of fifteen knew who their elected official was….”

That's what Jemm found when they ran voter education events for Black and Brown communities in North Carolina. Not because people don't care. Because the system is designed to confuse.

Jemm is a 2025 AGIdealist Microgrant recipient. Their project was simple: food, questions, and a space where people could ask without shame.

"I feel stupid," folks kept saying. The response: "You're not. This information was never built for you."

If your organization wants to fund real community work, let's explore it together.

HIV prevention and care shouldn't depend on politics.

We captured advocate testimonials at state capitols in North and South Carolina. Real voices. Real urgency. Real people demand action.

When communities speak for themselves, change follows.

If your organization is ready to amplify voices that matter, let's explore it together.

A tight deadline doesn't have to mean cutting corners. It means knowing what matters most.

Here's how we approached the Just Transition Fund platform launch.

First, we anchored on clarity. Dozens of partners. One document. The editorial design had to be clear and capture the aspiration in an easy-to-understand way.

Second, we built for two audiences. The print version needed to be light, legible, and professional. The digital version needed to encourage sharing and feature ongoing updates.

Third, we designed for action. The site had one primary purpose: get people to read or download the platform. We made that decision easy. Orange buttons that draw attention. A mobile taskbar that keeps the call to action visible.

The result was a platform that shined in front of national and regional media and coalition partners.

As their Executive Director put it: "A Great Idea conquered a challenging project with multiple rounds of edits on a very short deadline and surpassed our expectations by a mile."

If your organization is launching something important, we should talk.

We understand what it's like to not be heard. To not be seen.

That's what excites us about the solutions we're building. Different ways for people to have that experience—and actually be heard this time.

As a designer, that's where I see real transformational change.

If your organization is ready to build something that actually listens, let's explore it together.
