While the International quietly sleeps, the vultures are descending, preying upon our information. They are targeting the utilities, the contractors, and some of our members. Their sole intention is to have control of our member base to capitalize on our backsides.
The only reason they can even get away with it is because the union halls cannot facilitate large-volume storm calls. As much as this sounds like a pitch for Tramp GPS, this is a wake-up call to all of the members, the local union halls, and the International. I will knock on this door until my hand falls off—we must take action.
No offense to anyone, but a lot of individuals and companies have been taking advantage of this blind spot for years. Now we have international conglomerates trying to do the same thing on a larger level. They are working closely with the utilities and contractors to gain full access, and once they do, there's no stopping it. As soon as the utilities mandate it, everyone else will be forced to bow down to it.
The storm game has changed so much in the last several years that many of the local unions don't even know how it works anymore. The members want this, the members deserve this, and soon enough, the members will demand it: security and protections from people who have no business accessing and controlling our information.
