Rod Stewart and Johnny Depp played a private charity night in London to help raise much-needed funds for Celia Hammond's Animal Trust, a rescue that takes in abandoned cats and offers low-cost neutering for families who can't afford it.

Depp even played Elvis Presley's original red guitar for the night. For small rescues running on donations, one big night like this can mean new kennels, food, and vet care for months.

Most local shelters here in the US never get that kind of spotlight.

Would you support legal whistleblower protection for employees who report animal neglect at their workplace?

A kennel worker noticed the boarding facility was cutting corners on water and leaving injured dogs locked in back crates all weekend. When she spoke up to management, she was fired on the spot and threatened with legal action for breaking a confidentiality agreement.

Right now, workers in many commercial pet facilities have zero legal protection when they report mistreatment, leaving vulnerable animals completely trapped in the dark.

When floodwaters rose after the storm, search teams found Buster chained to a front porch post in three feet of water. His owners had packed their cars and left two days earlier. He was exhausted, shivering, and barely keeping his head up when rescuers finally reached him by boat.

Hundreds of pets are left behind every hurricane season to fend for themselves behind locked doors or tied to fences. Some states have passed laws making this felony cruelty, but most still have no specific penalties at all.

Every year when temperatures drop below zero, unhoused people and families in crisis face an impossible choice. Many public warming centers still enforce strict no-pet rules, turning away freezing dogs and cats at the door.

Owners often choose to stay outside in life-threatening frostbite conditions rather than abandon their animals in the snow. Designating secure, separate pet areas inside these shelters saves both human and animal lives.

Picture this: a mom slams the brakes when a car runs a red light, and her little terrier Daisy flies off the back seat into the footwell. In a crash, a loose dog turns into a projectile that can hurt itself and everyone else in the car.

New Jersey already lets officers fine drivers $250 to $1,000 for every unrestrained pet, while a basic car harness costs less than a tank of gas.

Some call it common sense, others call it government going too far, especially since so many dogs love their head out the window.

Everyone went home with a cat today. Except her. 🖤

Picture this: a family falls for a shy black cat named Luna, but the sign on her kennel says adoptions are paused until November. Every October, some shelters stop black cat adoptions out of fear they'll be harmed around Halloween.

Many animal welfare groups say there's little evidence of that, and the pause only keeps black cats - already slower to get adopted - stuck in a kennel longer while shelters keep paying for their care.
