Drone shot or side of the mountain?

This was shot from a higher frequency in the atmosphere.

Took some time off the grid to reconnect with what I love again… re-inspired to channel the colors I’ve been dreaming about, I headed north. I picked up where I left off on the Hudson Valley last Autumn, got up early, laced up my boots and drove. Chasing what’s left of the fall, I found myself no longer chasing the light, but instead immersed in chasing the atmosphere. Chasing not only a vantage point but a feeling that reminds you that you’re alive- narrowly missing a few slips and falls in this new search for not just sight but feeling. In school they told us “one frame in three hundred might be the one.” This frame seemed to open that door again as soon as shot it!
Back when every click cost something, every frame was deliberate. The decisive moment to place your camera on your face or on the tripod and compose an image that would freeze time. The kind of feeling that brings the view back with you, vicariously taking your audience back to where you were. Traveling back to that moment through an image.
The digital age has spoiled us with endless shots that mostly almost never make it to screen or are simply “almosts”— Almost the Shot… but the principle’s the same: one frame, one story.
This post started with me just wanting to share a before and after of a new frame that I recently captured for my Hudson Valley Landscape Series… but instead has allowed me to reconnect with you guys what I’ve been missing this whole time… connection or the lack of. It’s what each and every one of us wake up to out and seek every day. Whether it be through religion, a loved one, a place, a book, a good conversation, or near death experiences just to capture a photo to bring back to show you guys… it’s always about connection. So with that I hope you guys like this new image to the series.
Some frames just… breathe different.
