We’re convinced that spatial storytelling will be the next competitive edge for prestige brands.

A few years out from stay-home orders, we no longer take in-person experiences for granted — we choose them when necessary or desired. And when we do, we expect them to be worth it.

The best luxury brands understand that a well-designed restaurant, hotel lobby, or boutique isn’t just a sales backdrop — it’s part of the brand’s language, an ambient messaging system. It sets the tone before a single word is spoken.

We’ve invested deeply in digital presence, and for good reason. But I believe the businesses that go all in on creating remarkable physical experiences will lead the market. It’s about memory-building and placemaking. About designing spaces that delight. Where customers want to linger—not just to shop but because the space itself is an experience.

Critiquing (through drawing) familiar architectural diagrams reveals a skewed perception of the human form, favoring a particular ideal.

Contrasting these ideals of DaVinci’s Vitruvian Man and Corbusier’s Modular with the Black female body uncovers significant differences in proportions and curves. Overlaying these bodies provokes a reinterpretation of architectural design, celebrating diversity and inclusivity. There’s no singular ‘Black body,’ just as there is no one ideal, highlighting the need for adaptable spaces accommodating various forms.

This research area fuels our mission to reshape retail and hospitality architecture through adaptive reuse, creating environments that embrace the richness of human diversity.
