From the U.S. to the U.K. 🇺🇸🇬🇧

Manifoldz Marketing Specialist Jackie Sassin recently traveled to the United Kingdom through UMass Dartmouth’s Student Affairs Global Experience (S.A.G.E.) program, where she had the opportunity to learn more about offshore wind, renewable energy, and the maritime industry.

Through conversations with industry professionals and a visit to Ørsted, Jackie gained firsthand insight into offshore wind development in the U.K. and the important connections between renewable energy, workforce development, coastal communities, and innovation.

Experiences like these bring new perspectives to the work we do at Manifoldz as we continue engaging with the evolving global maritime industry.

Meet the people behind Manifoldz!

We’re excited to introduce our new "Meet the Team" series, where we’ll be highlighting our team members, what they do at Manifoldz, and a little more about who they are outside of work.

First up, meet Aishwarya!

Originally from Mandya, India, Aishwarya holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Binghamton University. She began her journey at Manifoldz as a Machine Learning Software Engineering Intern during the third semester of her master’s program and is now continuing with the company for her fourth consecutive term.

At Manifoldz, Aishwarya works on integrating AI and machine learning capabilities into the maritime industry. Her work includes developing predictive models to identify marine hotspots and conducting QA/QC testing for VesselOps and Waterfront, helping enhance product reliability and the overall user experience.

During her graduate studies, Aishwarya was also part of Binghamton University’s team that competed in the 2025 MITRE Embedded Capture the Flag (eCTF) Competition, where she gained hands-on experience working with secure embedded systems.

Outside of work, Aishwarya enjoys playing badminton, traveling, baking, and experimenting with new recipes. She has also trained in Indian Carnatic music since the age of 13 and continues to pursue her passion for singing whenever she gets the chance.

In May, the Manifoldz team traveled up the coast of Maine, meeting with collaborators and clients from Portland to Eastport before heading to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

While in Halifax, we joined Marine Renewables Canada for a conference focused on strengthening Nova Scotia's supply chains to support the future of the maritime industry. It was a great opportunity to connect with industry leaders, share ideas, and build partnerships that will help advance innovation across the marine and renewable energy sectors.

We appreciate everyone who took the time to meet with our team and look forward to continuing these collaborations.

Following SONAR deployment, participants in Manifoldz's Workforce Training Program completed another critical step in the ghost gear removal process by analyzing the collected SONAR data.

Reviewing SONAR imagery allows participants to identify potential derelict fishing gear, interpret underwater features, and better understand how marine technology is used to support real-world decision-making. By combining field operations with data analysis, participants gained valuable hands-on experience throughout every stage of the workflow.

Through this training, participants continue developing technical skills that prepare them for careers in the growing blue economy while contributing to cleaner and healthier marine environments.

Keeping maintenance organized is critical to safe and efficient vessel operations.

The Work Order feature in VesselOps allows maintenance activities to be connected directly to the vessels and equipment they impact, creating a complete record from task creation through completion. This centralized approach improves visibility, strengthens accountability, and helps operators maintain accurate service records across their fleet.

Key capabilities include:
• Create and assign work orders
• Link maintenance tasks to individual vessels and equipment
• Track maintenance history in one centralized system
• Improve accountability across teams
• Maintain organized records for inspections and compliance

By keeping maintenance records connected to the assets they support, VesselOps helps organizations simplify workflows and improve operational efficiency.

This past winter was a busy and rewarding season at Manifoldz as we trained participants and worked to remove derelict fishing gear from our local waters.

As we approach the conclusion of our first Climate Critical Workforce Training cohort, we're reflecting on one of the program's key milestones: our SONAR deployment using the JW Fishers Manufacturing SSS-600K side scan sonar.

While out on the water, participants gained hands on experience troubleshooting equipment, collecting sonar imagery, and analyzing data, developing practical skills used in marine operations, environmental monitoring, and the protection of our coastal ecosystems.

We're proud of everything this cohort has accomplished and look forward to continuing to prepare the next generation of the ocean workforce.

This spring, the Manifoldz team had the opportunity to participate in the second cohort of the NOAA Ocean Enterprise Accelerator hosted by VentureWell!

Khalid Kamhawi, joined by our West Coast Lead, Christopher Potter, and the New Bedford team, attended the in person convening, where we learned from experts in venture capital, ocean engineering, and marine science.

A big thank you to the New Bedford Port Authority for sharing how New Bedford continues to lead the way in ocean technology and innovation.

One of our favorite moments was visiting the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, where we explored cutting edge research facilities, ocean technology, and the incredible work taking place to advance marine science.

We're excited to build on everything we learned and continue driving innovation in the maritime industry.
