🦷 THE $1,200 NOBODY PUTS IN THE BID

Mulcher teeth. Let's do the real math.

➡️ Standard steel: $15 to $45 each
➡️ Carbide hammers: $75 to $120 each
➡️ Severe duty: $120 to $150 and up

A 60 inch drum holds around 36 of them. A 72 inch holds around 44.

On rocky ground or heavy hardwood you'll change 10 to 15 on a single job.

Run carbide at $100 and change 12?
🔥 That's $1,200 in consumables. One job.

Most guys find that number when they reconcile the books at the end of the month. Not when they're writing the bid.

Track what you burn by job type and build it into your crew day rate. It isn't overhead. It's a line item.

🌲 HOW MANY ACRES A DAY? THE HONEST NUMBERS.

Everybody quotes acres per day like it's one number. It's four.

➡️ LIGHT BRUSH, SMALL SAPLINGS
Open understory, nothing over 4 inches. 3 to 4 acres a day.

➡️ MEDIUM MIXED HARDWOODS
Trees up to 8 inches, moderate understory. 1.5 to 2 acres a day.

➡️ HEAVY
Mature hardwoods over 8 inches, dense understory. Half an acre to 1 acre a day.

➡️ EXTREME
Twenty years of growth, big stumps, rocky ground. A third of an acre to half an acre a day.

Here's why it matters.

The same 5 acre lot is a one day job or a full week depending on what's growing on it. Quote $1,500 an acre off a windshield look and you either left money on the table or you're working for free.

Walk it before you price it.
